There is a company out there that makes cases for key FOB's, so it's like a cell phone leather case with a belt clip.

I know it's not the same but yeah I know the feeling, especially when you have jeans on.

I'm not sure why it says that because a while ago they were taking orders and it was around $400 or 500.

Not just the Prestige package has that key. all B8 A4s have that key and key slot (just insert and push to start the car, no turning). The one difference with a Prestige packaged car is that the key fob also has the transmitter for the keyless function to allow for start/stop via button without needing to take the key out of your pocket.

Someone needs to figure out a way to retrofit that B8 key to work with our cars.. cant be too much too it besides like a remote start system modded to only start by button with the key being detected.. but since its german im sure theres alot more to it...

The new VW's have them too. My buddy had his S4 at the dealer and they gave him a Passat as a rental and it had that same key thing where you put it in the slot and just push. Pretty cool!

The new 3-series has that as well. I don't really like it because you have to have foot on the brake, key in the slot, then push button. It does have a tiny valet key that slides out of it though.

^^YEah i remember something like that as well on the Passat. At least you wont have to worry about a key opening up in your pocket. lol

I made a post about starting this... So far I have the central module and 2 b8 keys, but when I pulled the wiring from my current b6 and tried to retrofit the b8 one, I got lost in a jungle of cables.

One of these days I need to buy the legit version of Vagcom (not the torrent version) and a legit vag-com cable so I can get into the IMMO system without it crashing all the darn time.

Then I will make a DIY on how to do it.. But currently im stuck with a jungle of cables that I have to sort and organize and I also have a IMMO problem I have to solve before the b8 keys work.. so ill keep u posted

audi really fucked up with the b8 when they decided to do a keyless thingy.

You get the button and/or u can push in the key to start it.

those F keys were cool in 90s when MB came out with them. NOT cool anymore ! My friends 02 or 04 MB has a nice, much smaller, push-in key, just like Audi has now in 2009 ! Even my 02 BMW Key was MUCH better

If I could just have the B7 key with those metal buttons I would be happy. The RFID thing doesnt really do much for me, but that key just looks sick.

Im going to try and get access to Directed Electronics' site so i can get the wiring diagrams to do a remote start which should show us what wires we need and where they are located! We'll see.
