View Full Version : QUICK question about H&R suspension (doing mine right now)

06-16-2009, 04:55 PM
ok finally got off the front suspension... and the H&R fronts have a very tight coil on one side progressing to a looser coiling ... which side faces up and which side faces down???

kinda like this

The tighter part of the coil goes on top.

on a scale of 1 to 10 how sure are you lol.... cause in this pic it looks like the loose part goes toward the bottom hah

idk... hmm

I am 100% sure. I installed H&R race springs on my 99.5 this past winter and just ran outside to double check right before I replied to this thread. I understand why you think the opposite based on that picture but that is suspension for a different car, things are different across platforms.

lol well that one went together smoothly.... other side not so much...[o_o] long story short i posted that question at about 6 my time.. and i just got out of the ER an hour ago... ill post some pics tomorrow... but still fml that was not worth it... my car better look damn good when im done.

no broken bones, but close. about 10 stitches and a severed tendon though [headbang]

i think my dad finished the job for me though! [wrench]

now in a week or so ill actually be able to drive again![drive]

Yeah, i know this is a little too late. When i did mine(same spring) i really didn't think twice about which side go up, i just went with the side that the "H&R" logo and the parts # can be seen right, not up side down.
Sorry to hear that you hurt yourself while working on the car and had to go to the ER, i feel your pain, my friend. I had the same thing happen to me like two week ago, and too had to have someone gave me a ride to the ER, mine is a little better, with "only" 5 stitches, it fuxxing suck, i know. hope youe feel better soon.
BTW, if your are pairing the spring with Bilstein shocks like myself, you are going to love it, at least i do.

Well, i was working on another car, not my beloved audi, my finger was caught between a pulley and a belt, stupid mistake.[=(]
