View Full Version : Can this be a sticky? Complaint for 2.0T FSI Cam Follower

From all the posts that I have read this appears to be the #1 problem with the car that Audi/VW have failed to address on numerous 2.0T FSI motors. Having one Cam vs another will not solve the problem.
If enough people complain about this with the NHTSA maybe just maybe we can get a little bit of relief with possible extended warranties on this part of the design.

my dealer told me in time Audi will extend the cam wear warranty just like they did with the sludge on the 1.8Ts

dumb question guys. How should i know if the cam follower is wearing out?
The only way to know is to look. The TSB states engine codes will need to be present but that is way too late. If the black "diamond coating" is gone chances are very high that the metal is thin and should be replaced. Just because there is no hole does not mean that the cam follower has not had significant wear.
Use this link. The guy took detailed pics.

maybe instead of stickying this thread alone we should push for a "common problems" area of the already existing FAQ? Or if there already is one add this to it..

Have an appointment for this on Wed. I've got codes, but not sure if they're the right ones.
Have told them I've had fuel cut off and intermittent CEL. Hope they check the follower!
