View Full Version : Can any locals help with bumpstop/DV install? :)
Yeah, I know, I'm an absolute noob! Was wondering if anybody in the Union City area could help me install/trim my rear bumpstops and a 710n. (or refer me to a local who would be willing to do this work)
From what I understand this stuff is all relatively easy to do, but I honestly haven't found the time or have the know-how to do this! I have no tools either - yep fail.
This stuff has been sitting in my trunk for literally a month now and I still haven't gotten around to doing it. Will compensate you with some cash ;-)
PS I have a b6 if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance
man get ready for some bloody knuckles taking those hose clamps off

Took me about an hour and i ended up breaking the stock DV into pieces. That was my second time doing it too. [>_>] My B5 only took like 15 min.
Alright guys I need to get this stuff done ASAP! Can anybody refer me to a local wrencher or a shop to do my bumpstops/DV for a decent price?

bumpstops as in the ones on your shocks? There has been a few threads in the B6 forum where guys are removing their bumpstops for better ride quality and a lower stance.
I'm looking to replace the stock ones with sport bumpstops for exactly those reasons.

I would believe that installing bumpstops is going to be like swapping out the springs. Since in order to install bumpstops, you have to remove the top mount on the shock, which requires you to use a spring compressor. You should save up for springs instead of doing all that just for bumpstops :).

I could help you out with this. I should have my old set of spring compressors and my electric impact gun. Really wouldn't be too hard...
I'm out in Pleasant Hill though.
Thanks for the offer ActiveMonkey! I'm willing to make the drive out there - I'll PM you with my information :)
I should have specified that I only need my rear bumpstops replaced. I already have aftermarket shocks/springs installed (H&R Sports/Bilstein Shocks), but didn't trim the rear bump-stops, making my stance raked - I want my rear to tuck and want to get rid of the pogo effect when I'm going over bumps.
