You've been becoming quite the mod whore Derek...yea but everyone's right make sure you get yourself a set of shocks to go along with the race springs.

You see, you try to fix things and this is the thanks you get. [rolleyes]

We can all just expect the post regarding how your car was mistaken for a dolphin on the road from all dipping it's gonna do. Or the one about how your shocks blew out and you need to find new ones. Ahh the future.

I'd seriously get shocks. Your ride is gonna suck. See what happens is that your reboud is going to suck so hard that you will actually be bouncing all over the place... that decreases stability at high speeds and during turns. So basically you are hurting performance. Unless that is waht you are going for. YOu can save money on the install by doing it all at once.

I don't know how much $$ you make, but save up for another week or so and get the shocks.

Not having the shocks to go along with it can be dangeous. I've heard nightmare stories of loss of control because of it. Sometimes saving a few $$ just isn't worth it in the end.

I've had stock shocks for a year and not a noticeable decrease in handling for me so far... Still rides stiff like the day the springs were put on, given I only have a 1.3" drop to sport-size..

What shocks are you running? Eibach's run that height drop and the dealer used to sell them in conjuction with sport shocks. I've seen them run for a few miles without issue. But more of a drop than that, and especially on regular shocks, is an issue. Any model stock shock, will fail after continous use with aftermarket shocks.

I'm on stock non-sports (96).

Here's my view point I think every car is different. I had stock shocks on my old car a turboed MX-6 I changed everything in my suspension except for the shocks and it was fine. I could still take her up to 130 and not worry about losing control. I don't know if Audi's are the same but hey if that's the way he wants to have his car then it's his decision. You can always change the shocks later. I'm sure he'll keep us informed about how things are going.

i have decided to get some blistens. i am thinking about some with a perch or whatnot. i dont know much about this subject. so i dunno what to do. maybe sfexboy will give me his shocks and then i can buy a a new one. but im thinking chances are if one of his shocks are blown the rest will go soon
thx for the input everyone

Vehicles are all different. IIRC the MX-6 did not have shocks except for in the rear. The fronts were MacPherson struts.. which are completely different.

Sure he can change the shocks later.. and sure it's on his dollar as well.. if he doesnt mind the R&I of the shocks/springs again. But then again... the only one who knows best is Derek.
Let him make his own decisions.

By the way Derek... You look like a smart guy... I have a bridge you might be interested in.

good idea running bilstein sports derek. The ones with adjustable perches will let you drop the car even more, but with a 2" drop, the reqular ones are fine. You'll save about $100.

think the perches would be the way to go derek, especially considering where you live. still think you would have been better off going with a little less drop. im gonna be running sport shocks with eibach springs year round here in mn, 1.4 in front and 1.3 in rear will look much better without sacrificing winter driveability.

I ran stock sports with Eibach pro kits for about 15k miles with no probs.

Interesting. My Neuspeed Race springs are orange, not black. Is your car a 6 cylinder or Front Track? Just curious what the differences are...
