or if you got it done more than once for you 100k+ boys, then at what mileages did you have it done or should it be done... i've got ~83K on my 98.5 2.8. Not sure if I can crank out another 1-2K safely until i get to winter break to replace my timing belt. What you guys think? is there any sound i can listen for if its close to snapping or way of checking it to see how much longer itll hold up? im headin to my uncle's/cousin's shop this weekend to have them take a look, but thought I'd get some opinions here

I did mine at 115K for the first time, but I think that the 2001's can go a lot longer. Its not in the schedule book for my car until 105K. Its not worth waiting and having one of those tensioners go! Its not the belt that you have to worry about, its the faulty tensioners.

Did mine at 85K, the mechanic said that the belt had "cracks" in it and was about to go.

2001 here and got mind done around 72K. My water pump was showing signs of leaking already. So even w/ the new tensioner on the 01s, other things can go b4 that.
Id replace it if you can soon, like said above, waiting another 1-2K miles can come to bite you in the ass.

just did them @ 180k KM and they were also done @ 90k KM so that's every 56k miles. (yes the dutch user manual says to change it every 90k KM)

I've got 82 on the odometer and i'm holding off till 90.
You guys in the cold weather have a lot more wear and tear on certain parts.
