but they are only uppers right? you would have to get lowers still to complete the kit?

Stock lowers are fine - you don't need any upgrades or adjustments there. Camber is all adjusted with the uppers.

i think all my arms need to be replaced, so i was looking for a complete kit. was debating to do stock lowers then maybe stern uppers.

What is the best camber you can get with an alignment now? I don't have adjustables & I still can get it close to spec.. I am also pretty low (tuck in front) on my car.. I think they were able to get it just over -1.0* (1.2 I think..)

Front suspension has no provisions for any changes to camber with the factory setup. Your camber is determined strictly by the ride height and how worn the bushings are.

i think im going to go with a full kit from ecs or something. one with upper, lower, and tie rods. seems like the best solution for my situation

I want the Stern arms, but they're soo expensive. I may just do the regular control arm kit when I do the drop and sway bars.

+2 for me. Mine are only a year or two old (uppers & tie rods) but I am getting play in them now as well as leaking bushings. Thanks to the delightful terrain on NYC roads.... [headbang]

okay, figured id bump my thread with some info and with what ive chosen to go with.
i did alot of research, and there is a few better brands out there, but for that price and what you get i decided to go with the 034 motorsport kit.
http://www.034motorsport.com/product_info.php?cPath=25_66_74&products_id=13856
the kit does not include tie rod ends or hardware bolts. i decided to add HD tie rods, and the hardware kit to complete everything i need. its actually a very well priced kit for what it is
arms upper/lowers - 375
HD tie rods (they are s4 tie rods with upgraded bushing) - 82
H/W kit - 30
so for 487 you have a COMPLETE kit, at a very very reasonable price. from what i have researched, 034 had these control arms made specifically for them. the arms are made from an audi OE manufacture and apparently they had the bushing changed out for some stiffer/better ones as that is the weak point they decided to improve
hope this info helps someone some day [up]

Great post. Please tell us your impressions once they're installed. I need control arms for my car as well.
So there's no extra charge if your car has aluminum uprights?
audirs

will do man. im hoping to have this installed before may 30th which is a track day. from what ive gathered, s4's with the aluminum uprights require different lower arms or something. i believe the extra cost is about 200 bucks too, but dont quote me on that

if I was having alignment problems would the control arms be the cause?

^they could be, could also be tie rods too

how exactly do I know if I need new ones? could you tell just by looking at them?
audirs

if they are bent you could. if they are worn out (the bushings) they would make noise and not really affect alignment. id think they are your tie rods and not your arms, unless like i said your arms are bent
QuattrOZZy
03-15-2011, 01:07 AM
haha, yea i've bent a couple of those rear curved arms, which really futzez with your alignment. go and check if your wheels are the same distance from the fenders front-rear(not up-down), when you bend the curved arm it sucks that wheel back a bit.
the mafia doesent pay the pavers enough around here, so it doesent get done. somehow it always falls back on me for being low
just my .02, but if your bushings are moving enough to make a decent amount of noise, your alignment is probably deflecting a bit.
and yea, i hear good things about the 034 kit, if i could go back and get those instead id do it in a heartbeat
