Alright...some of you guys know, some of you don't, most of you probly don't care but my old car is gone and the new s4 is in the shop. Right now she sits as a stage 2 (lame, I know) with RS4 clutch and new k03s(old owner, soon to be replaced). The car has only 43,xxx miles on it but that didn't really deter me from hacking it to pieces. The fenders are getting pulled and the moldings are all being shaved. Right now the top moldings are almost done and the bottom moldings are being started. There was NO bondo used; the holes were welded from inside the doors, grinded and primered and will recieve a minimal layer of icing at most. It would be a shame to have the bondo crack when someone slams thed doors....anyways, enough talking, here's a few pics to show the progress.

silver with a black roof.

lol.

I actually considered red and ibis white but a true color change would cost an extra $4k because of all the labor(I don't have time for a 200 hour project). I don't feel like pulling every single bolt and panel off the car, media blasting it and reassembling. This isn't a show car so it's not worth the money to do a color change the right way and if I gangsterfy it, it will just lower the value of the car and piss me off knowing I didn't do it right. I'd rather put the money and effort toward something else.

A4rob and Das Eighty did it on here...and Jester over on vwvortex...Their cars look sick.

I couldn't justify the WB costs for OEM. I'm not trying to pay 10K+ in total after labor and shipping on parts.

Yeah, it's expensive but sooo worth it to me. I was planning on paying closer to 20K when I do it so if I can do it for around 10K, that's good news...Again, I'm looking forward to see yours and hear how much you end up spending on it...What size wheels/tires/offsets do you plan to run when you're done?

Your car will look sick in satin black...and it's super fucking fast. I'm thinking about 3.0 GTs but it's a tossup verses a bike for the summer...plus everyone knows winter is build time.[:D]

19X9.5...not sure on the offset...10mm front spacer, 20mm rear. If you get the cash together I know someone in Germany who can get a decent price on those parts.

4k and a blown motor...so yeah, pretty much 5. lol
The window trim alone was $500. Plus you throw in the RS4 bumper for $1300. The side moldings is the biggest PITA b/c the doors need to be dissasembled, holes all have to be welded shut, and ground down. There's already 30+ hours of body and there is about another 40+ hours left so I'm looking at $20-30 per hour for labor.

More pics this weekend...should get the new stoptechs on, spacers on, fenders pulled, and hopefully the lower moldings. It'll be a stretch with show and go. plus I got do control arms and axles on my buddy's stage 3.

When we took the doors apart to weld the holes and for paint we had to remove the windows so it just collects dust, there is literally an inch of dust on everything. There are 6 other cars in this shop that are going widebody so it's a fucking mess....Including a VW pickup with a 1.8BAT AWD set-up.[wrench]

Jared had his done first, but truthfully I never even realized it. Im talking more about the whole everything shaved and fender stretching (not WB in my eyes in the slightest bit.)

Das and I did ours at the same time.. In fact I remember being on the phone with him and him telling me what he decided to do, and I was literally at the garage priming the car..

Pics from that night..

http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i128/Mossburg031/0222081948a.jpg

As you can see from the front I focused on rolling more of the fender face itself vs. the actual edge, and I left the lower moldings on. I dont like the idea of taking the edge off of the edge of the fender because it just doesnt look "finished" in my eyes.

Its not like anyone is a pioneer with the door shaving, Seeing as how the RS4 has it done stock.

I have since shaved the lower door molding's and am in the process right now of figuring out exactly what I wanna do with the black trim at the bottom of the door that comes out onto the side skirt.. Im either going to cut it down, or paint the whole thing minus the aluminum S4 piece.

I was holding off on saying my new plan's until the finished pictures, but im not making a fiberglass piece thats im going to use to mold the side skirts in with the fenders and quarters.. Gotta roll the rears a tad bit more..

Im also trying to hunt down a beatin and battered RS4 from bumper to fix up and modify to my liking.. Doing away with the FMIC, and then adding some new wheels (sold my ch's), and some thule action up top. just gotta a lot going on right now with other hobbies, etc.

Oh I thought you went with the pseudo wide-body like Das, you just took off the molding. Plently of people have done that. That is old news. Looks cool, but old news. Is your car done?

I'm not trying to say I pioneered this by any means. I just thought there were less people that had it done when i started. over the last few months i realized that's not true.[=(]

I was going to do something similar originally but I needed to fit my rims in the wheel wells. I need a 15mm spacer to clear my brakes so I had to go as wide as i could possibly go. I may just end up getting the barebones rs4 package if I get sick of this look. Its will only cost about 5 grand to get the necessary parts(doors, fenders, sideskirts). everything else can be fabricated rather cheaply(fender liner, inner fender) or bought later(door sills, fog lights) plus i am thinking about a true color change in the winter.

so many people leave the door sills sticking out and don't match up the sideskirts with the fenders leaving the car looking unfinished. They stick out a lot further then most pictures show and they pissed me off when I saw them. haha
Right now I'm thinking of grabbing a DUH FMIC. I'd obviously powdercoat the pipes black, but I think it looks good behind the grills.

Def are wider.. I ran it up the fender vs. Most people just pulling the lip out, Even though the lip is slightly pulled.

Phil..

What did you end up doing with your fender liner? I was going to go for the poked look, But now im thinking I might for for the tucked 19's.

Someone that I mentioned before is going to WB RS4 vs. the stretched fenders. Im so indecisive though. One minute I wanna sell the car, One minute I wanna go wider on the fenders.. If I pulled my fenders even more with the end pieces I think I could fit a 10inch wheel underneath it.. lol. Who knows.. Ill see your whip at h2o if I dont go to the Miami vs Virgina tech game.

Hey wdbdy, sorry to be a grave digger, but do you have any finished pics to put up. This is something that I was considering and I happened to stumble across this thread.
There will be plenty of pics at H20 [;)]

If you want a DUH, I know of one locally a buddy is selling. PM me and I'll send you his contact info
Thanks but the build has taken a different path. The DUH isn't going to suport my new hardware setup.

Gave up...Went with the yellow avant mod...

Car was hit on the driver's side front with 68k on it and sat since. The front fenders, hood, bumper and engine bay were sprayed.

shitty cell pic. The glare makes the hood look lighter since it's not in the shade, but the paint matches really well and there's no orange peel. Overall the outside looks amazing, only one small scratch on the rear bumper.

Was just looking through this thread and saw you go to Bentley. You still here? I'm a sophomore here now, never see any modded Audis around except mine and a laser red B5...

Update...Car runs. The engine bay was gutted from the respray but luckily I had a donor car to rip everything out of. FYI anyone doing a 2000 -> 2001.5 swap, the fans are different so you will need to splice the plugs or upgrade the fans. Also managed to replace the dash, airbag, brakes and suspension. I'll be picking up a set of turbos in the next week or two so the motor will be coming out again. [wrench]

I'd like to thank Mike@route 100 euros for letting me tie up 2 of his lifts for the entire weekend. Also thanks to Billy, Ryan and Justin from the shop for helping out where possible.
