Just wondering, I did a full TB/waterpump but I think the gasket is crap compared to the old one so its leaking, anyone replaced it without pulling anything else? I dont feel like putting another 3 hours into all this for nothing

ditto.
you're talking about 1-1.5" of work room. I tried once, didn't even get past the fan to be honest. Can't imagine going into the TB and WP area.

You don't mean 3 hours do pull the lock carrier out? Service mode should only take 20 minutes to do.

but the real question is, do I need to re-do the whole timing belt again?

I think you would have to take it apart again to have access to the waterpump.

you can try zip tieing/clamping the belt to the sprockets to avoid redoing the tb

ya service mode should only be half hour to an hour with no electric/pneumatic tools. dont take it comepletely off, just put one bumper bolt on each side (same thread as lock carrier bolts), pull it out and stuff an extra socket between each side to keep it extended.

the fan is removable without removing the bumper and going to service position, but you need access to an air compressor, air hammer, adapter bar, and 32mm fan wrench. got it all from usa tool truck for ~50 bucks. put the wrench on the fan, hammer on the wrench and pop it loose. just remember that its reverse thread ;-D

wait, what do I need all that stuff for? I just stick something in there to hold the fan and break the 8mm in the back off...

So, the question is do I have to take the IM shaft gear off?

There's a timming mark on the sproket, all he needs to do is make on for the crank.

Update: BlauParts SHAFTED me. I basically did this TB for a customer and they basically put in a gasket that looks like a piece of wax paper. the OEM one is metal and has the seal built in. I can't believe they can even call theirs a gasket

Hey pipe, btw, I was in Tampa this week
