I'm at 19K! HA. Started stock, stage 1, 2, then 3 which was quite an expense when you don't just upgrade the turbos but all these components we add over time deff. tally up. I can't imagine some of the numbers people have put in. I actually just made an excel for it because I lost track of what was done to my car [:p]

Guru. Like the plans, I personally like the black satin IMO. So what's your deal with the motor now? You took the car apart again after finishing it all up to go 3L?

My car is pre-facelift, It's a swapped A4 1999 body.

I have the small a4 molding witch I find OK for looks on the doors.

I'm installing the OEM S4 sideskirts, but removing the lower molding on the doors.

Guru, good work there, you're car's going to be an awesome beast when completed. [cool]

Just one thing I'd chime in - you're spending some serious dough on your car, from what I've seen so far, seems like a no-expense spared project, which is Top Boss. [hail]

I would personally remove the window frames from the doors, handles from the doors, license plate plinth from the trunk, door mouldings from the doors etc, and paint off the car, that way, you won't end up with a line that will eventually lead to flaking. [:/]

Just my $0.02's worth. [up]

I'm not really a finish type of guy, I'd rather spend on my engine then the car itself.

In my case I really dont need to upgrade anything else but my front brakes...

The shop that I'm dealing with, are friends now. They are doing both bodywork and tuning. It's brothers with father small kind of shop that loves racing and projects like mine.

I really dont think I would be as far in my build without their support.

Father is going wild at the moment with the fender pulling[:D]

Yeah I saw it on the dyno too, started leaning into the high 12's on Q16 at 630whp on 034's DynoMite. It was even worse at the track because of the added Gforce and load.

I thought of going that way too but decided to go dual 044's, surge tank and -8 line to the rail. Should be installing it soon, good for 1500hp and all tucked up under the spare tire well. Just hope to get it installed and tested before my next Drag event on April 5th since we are looking to start up a new AWD heads up class for that event. Not really sure about the codes tho.

If you get automatic tranny heads, you need to plug the elbow in the back of the head, right beside the coolant port.

He said that you need the module to control voltage of this pump otherwise you will blow it soon ( overheat ). He said it only hapens when you cruise, low speed ''not anough flow to cool the pump''. Should be find for race. This module use to reduce voltage while cruising to prevent overheat.

Running an A1000 without a controller will increase the chances of its untimely death. It's hit or miss from what I can tell though, some people have no trouble, others fry them. It has alot to do with how much fuel you keep in the tank. The more fuel circulating, the cooler it will run.
Personally I would run a couple Bosch 044s on a street car.

I don't get it. Why doesn't anyone run a 413 pump? Its rated the same as the 044, but guaranteed to hold pressure to 8 bar. I've been told it's good for up to 800 hp. I'm sure that's some of the problem people are having as 044 is only rated to 5 bar, and most people fuel system eats that up, let alone running 2+bar of boost on top of that. I bet that would help some peoples problem of leaning out up top.

Here's a link to the .pdf. http://apps.bosch.com.au/motorsport/downloads/fuelpumps.pdf

Maybe because it is $800.

It has a set flow rating at 8 bar, it doesn't mean it is going to hold 8 bar of pressure if the engine needs more fuel then it can flow. That is when the fuel pressure falls and the car goes lean unless the ecu being used is running off a wide band 02 sensor. But that then means the injectors will max out even quicker.

You do understand that I am already making over 800hp and thats with the fuel pressure dropping like a rock with a single 044? My car is basically making the same power David's twin GT28rs S4 made. I needed to go with a fuel system that is going to be good for even more power seeing that I am looking to make over 700whp at some point. So why buy a $800 pump and then have to take that back out to have to upgrade yet again?

IIRC the first 413 fuel pump David put in his S4 failed on the way to German Invasion.

The guys at Full-race ran a dual bosch 044 pump setup on one of their Civic's, using a base fuel pressure of 100psi they were able to make 800-850whp on 1000cc high imp injectors.

It's not 800? Who told you that? It's around $450. Scott at USRT has it. Believe what you want, but real world testing, not rhetorical, has shown it outflows 044 pump at higher power levels. Its rated fuel pressure is guaranteed at minimum 8 bar.

If you car is still running high 12s with a single 044, I'm sure you'd be just fine with a 413. I'm not knocking a dual pump setup. Just seems like a lot of work before trying a simpler route. If you plan on going to 1000 hp, I can see the need for dual pumps. Just a thought. If you prefer the more extensive/safer route, by all means.

High 12's? [confused] I run mid 10's David and am looking to run 9's with a 35r. Running part throttle because the AFR was too lean I was running 11.2's at 110-115 mph even though my trap at the 1/8th was 105.

Here is a video (http://www.034motorsport.com/images/Laszlo/MikeHoodHellaFastYo.AVI) of me racing at Sac raceway earlier this month. I spin 1st gear, even lift to get traction. Then I take it easy thru 2nd-3rd gear and get back on it in 4th gear to run 11.2 at 130 mph.

Going with the 413 for me would just be a waste of time because I would have to replace it anyway once I go with a much larger turbo. Yes it might outflow the 044, but it isn't going to outflow dual 044's and thats why I went duals. I also went dual pumps so I could run a surge tank while still using the stock tank, now no matter what I will have fuel right there for the pumps and this means I can actually run less fuel in the car since the fuel is pumped right back into the surge tank from the fuel rail.

BTW Scott lists the 413 for $495. Isn't hard to buy 2 044 pumps for well under $400.

Thanks, my best 1/8th trap is 107+ so far. Just have to work on getting traction now, which means spending more money on better tires and 16" wheels.[:(]

Hi 12 afr mike. Of course I know you run 10s in the quarter. Like I said, for you goals, and dual setup is probably better. Just for those on the 600whp threshhold, I'm suprised the 413 is never used/mentioned. Small price to pay for peace of mind.

Ok, I guess :1 after that 12 would have made it more clear lol. As for AFR it only hit high 12's on the dyno, at the track it was hitting 14:1 in 1st-3rd gear because of this little thing called "G-Force" which you will never see on a dyno.

Here is a Data log from one of my runs at the CMI event and this is with a single 044 pump. Does this look like high 12's to you?

http://www.centralvalleyspeed.com/photogallery/albums/userpics/10093/AFR_data_log.jpg

Well there really isn't all that many A4/S4's on the 600whp threshold which why that pump isn't used all that often yet. I think the only person that used it was David S.

I was just going off what you said. Obviously you have delivery issues if you're hitting 14:1.

As I stated before, for your future goals, and being your car is only driven at the track, I can see the need/want to do a dual setup. Most GT setups would be fine with the 413 though.

Yeah those other AFR readings were while on the dyno, when I put down the 630whp the AFR was climbing to 12.7:1 in the high rpms so Javad couldn't keep tweaking the tune to get more power. The data log up above is actually of the 110 tune which made 580whp on the 034 dyno, I ran the Q16 tune 1 time at CMI and it was even worse so I had to cut the pass short after the launch. It was so bad the LM1 stopped recording on the launch.

Yes most of the small twin GT cars should be fine with the 413 pump if running large enough injectors or running very high base fuel pressure, but with a single BAT setup the person might end up needing much more and when it comes to fuel supply over kill is not a bad thing.

BTW here is a picture of the dual setup installed. The OEM plastic that sits in this spot will actually go back on to hide the pump setup making the car look 100% stock still. I will take a picture with the OEM cover back on once I finish wiring up the pumps.

I just want to comment that some of you are mistaken with how a fuel pump flows. Pumps fail when the fuel pressure is to high and the pump can't keep up. It's been mentioned quite a few times that you can obtain power levels of a particular pump when you crank base fuel pressure really high...well, that's wrong (to a point.) Pumps are saved and operate better when base fuel pressure is set low and you run a very large injector. When you have a regulator that's 1:1 it basically means that for every 1 psi of boost pressure your fuel pressure goes up by 1 psi. So if you run 30 psi of boost with a base pressure of 70 psi as an example. Of course these pumps loose pressure on the top end of the rpm band and the afr leans out. These intank pumps are not designed to operate at 100psi constantly.

Plus, stop arguing about these bullshit pumps like the 044 or 413 or walbro 255. If you wanna make power and not have fuel starvation problems save yourself the head ache and just sump the tank and run a nice external aeromotive or something with some good stainless lines.

Boris, After Javad from 034, I think I'll be the first to adress that departement in the V6. Javad did a good setup on his 5 cyl.

I will have 3 catch, one for each valve covers:

You could just use 1 slightly larger can with all the lines going to it and then add the exhaust vacuum setup to it. It would most likely be easier running the extra lines to 1 can then mounting 3 cans. The honda guys run 5-6 lines to 1 can and I just had someone I know send me pictures of his catch can that has 5 lines(1 crank and 4 from the VC), thats for a 1.8t setup on a drag car.

Just make sure your catch can(s) have enough ventilation so there isn't any pressure build up in the can. If you plan on relocating the battery you can always stick a battery size catch can in the battery location like I run on my car.

Dom, Did you decide to delete the secondary water pump? I was thinking about doing the same. Is there anyone who has deleted it without issues? I would assume its fine since the damn thing never comes on with the factory thermo temp switch.

Also did you modify the oil baffles underneath the valve covers (open them up more, or even remove them entirely) to reduce positive crank case pressure? I have heard of this helping reduce pressure and minimize blow by.
