View Full Version : Vinyl headrests?
I take it that the headrests in my A4 are vinyl... the static electricity is driving me nuts![>_<]
Anyone done anything about this?

?! vinyl? should be leather unless you have cloth interior.
Try using rubber allseason floor mats

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm Leather (never heard of leather holding a static charge anyhow....) The headrests are 100% vinyl in my 05.5.
Did Audi change this in new models?

mine are definitely leather... not sure whats up with that.. but mine are definitely leather.
Would appreciate you double checking, cause I'd certainly start looking for a newer set if it is so. Also what year the change happened...[confused]
Just pull one of your rests and look at the undersides. (the white cloth weave is a backing for the vinyl)

I have an 05.5... I'm all Leather also.

OK, now this simply does not make any sense. [confused]
Can any of you validate that claim with a photo similar to the one I posted?
Is there a chance the airbag options would make a difference? My A4 is fully loaded with all front and rear airbags....
My A4 is "full Leather interior". my 02 Stratus was a "leather interior" my Galant VR4 has a "Leather interior" and my Starion has "Leather interior", but ALL had vinyl headrests just like this A4. None of the other vehicles had this static issue like the Audi headrest does![:(]
In looking at the design, I don't see how I can remove the headrest cover otherwise I would think a parts listing would show the two different part number for leather vs vinyl, and i would simply buy the leather version. Looks like if there is a leather version out there I wuld have to buy the whole headrest!
peace!

The only thing in our 2.0T's that are actually leather are the seating surfaces. Everything else is leatherette, basically vinyl. I believe even the side bolsters on the seat bottom are leatherette. This used to be discussed a lot a couple years ago.
OP - I have never even heard about this static issue. Maybe you should stop wearing Cosby sweaters and trim that fro down.
