Lets see what the range is across the country?

Car: 1999.5 Audi 1.8TQM - Silver
State: NY
Insurance company: Geico
Coverage: Liability
Cost: $250 - 6 months coverage
Premium: $0 - since it's only liability

Since I'm poor and can only afford liability I still thought that was a really good price.

Figured this thread might also be a useful tool, information wise [drive]

How are you under your parents plan? On the insurance card, does it say your parents name? I'm 16 and looking to get a S4 (Paying for half) and I know the insurance costs are probably going to be astronomical. I'm thinking about having it under my dads name.... Would that work?

It would be cheaper for your dad to ad to his plan and you pay him. I am 24, and my car is still in my parents name for insurance purposes. With just about anything its cheaper (and sometimes easier) to do it as a group. We do this with our insurance and cell phones are two main things that come to mind. Our family has 5 boys 17,20,24,28,32, the first 4 all share a family plan for phones (like 200 bucks for unlimted everything, data plan for blackberry etc) ~ $50 a person, my plan for myself would be over $100.

So even if (especially if!) you are paying, its worth it. Either way, you would need to be a listed driver. Depending on what he drives, this may hurt you. Adding my little bother (17) made insurance skyrocket, not just because of his age, but because he is on the same policy with a new BMW and Volvo.

Yes, if you have three vehicles (one dad, one mom, one you) you can be on the oldest POS you own. You would still need to be a secondary driver I think. My dumbass cousin is under my grandmothers insurance since the car technically belongs to her since he has no credit. I think the car has to be under one of your parents names.

$240 a year? Is that possible?

I am on w/ my parents and my brother. My dad years ago lost his license due to too many tickets. Mom's record is spotless. Brother I think has 1 ticket. I asked how much mine was and my mom said 20 a month I really find it almost impossible but w/e. I'm not even paying it haha not that it would bother me to pay it at that little maybe I should get full coverage see how much more it is if its this low.

It would be cheaper for your dad to ad to his plan and you pay him.

This is exactly what I do, it's easier, cheaper and i'm also covered in case I need to drive one of their other vehicles. My dad did it like that at first because the Audi was his and I bought it from him after he cracked the oil pan.
