View Full Version : 2004 a4 1.8t....engine sounds rough low rpm

i have a 2004 a4 1.8t with 6 spd manual. i was currently in a car accident but it was passenger side damage. there is no way that it could effect the engine. they did however replace the battery. i was getting off the highway and i downshifted from 4th to 3rd and as soon as i did the engine sounded rough and a slight vibration under driver side floor.

the car drives fine and the issue happens sparatically. i dont know if im thinking things now but it also seems like the car isnt puttin out enough rpms. i was on the highway doing 80-85 and it was barely over 3000. has anyone had something like this happen? my immidiate reaction when i heard the engine was my coil packs but ive had that probelm and it definately is not that...any information or advice would be great. thank you.

If it isn't the coilpacks check plugs and vaccum system. A vaccum leak on these cars can cause all types of weird problems. I would inspect all of the check valves. Try cleaning your maf as well.
