1) Stock 1.8t engine, ATP GTRS with ATP high flow turbo manifold, Neuspeed exhaust with Eurocode 2.5" test pipe, Neuspeed Xtreme turbo intake pipe and Ecode front mount intercooler.
2) Revo 440cc Big Turbo file with Bosch 440cc injectors.
3) Well suited for the stock engine and pretty consistent performance without pushing the limits of the stock rods to far.
4) Meth injection will unlock a great power increase allowing to run a significant amount more boost or timing.
5) 321whp/304wtq at 25psi on Sunoco GT100 recorded on a mustang dyno
6) 13.35@100mph best 1/4 mile on 93 octane 23psi and timing 5, 12.75@108mph best 1/4 mile on VP 103 25psi and timing 9.

1) Stock AMB 1.8T, 71R Eliminator turbo, 550 injectors, Neuspeed TIP, ER Comp FMIC, Full 3" custom exhaust, High stall torque converter.
2) REVO
3) Smooth linear & consistent power. Deceivingly fast, given the small displacement
4) 3" system from the turbo on down A MUST. If not, you're cheating yourself out of the full potential.
5) 24 PSI on 93 oct.: 283.4 awhp, 287.1 ft-lbs . word is that there's a 300+ awhp dyno sheet lurking around for the 'zine's baddest Tip B6 [;)]

1) 1.8T, billet "GT2868" (GT28RS + 68mm aluminum compressor), ASP MAF housing, ASP FMIC, ASP 2.5" exhaust, gutted ASP High flow cat (essentially a test pipe now), "ASP" T25 log manifold (Treadstone), 60lb (630cc) injectors, Aquamist HFS-1 1.0mm nozzle 50/50 water/meth, forged pistons/rods
2) Unitronic Big Turbo software - Configured for 3"MAF, 93 octane + Water/Meth. -1.5 lemmiwinks
3) The "GT2868" spools faster than my old off-the-shelf GT28RS but holds boost much better. In 3rd gear, 25psi arrives at 3900RPM and holds 25 to redline (7000 in my car). My powerband is flat, hovering around 330whp from 4700 to 7000rpm.
4) Forged pistons/Rods
5) 93 octane, water/meth: 337WHP/348WTQ @ 25psi; 284WHP/292WTQ @ 19psi

Vinny's GTRS any my APR stage 3 at Speed Industry dyoned their Mustang Dyno. 4 pulls each. The guy at Speed Industry said he has taken cars off his dyno and brought them to the Mustang Dyno that was at Wheel to Wheel and found that his dyno typically reads in 10% low. Who knows if that is true or not, all we have are the plots..

Vinny: GTRS quattro tiptronic
Me: APR stage 3, quttro 5spd.

First plot: Torques and HP of our two best runs. I wish he would have rev'd the APR plot out a bit further as it almost looks like there is more power in the top end.

http://www.a4mods.com/pics/random/dyno/dyno1.jpg

Second plot: Same two runs with AFR and Boost - the GTRS kit was boosting much higher than my APR kit

http://www.a4mods.com/pics/random/dyno/dyno2.jpg

Third plot: Neither one of us had any real opportunity to sit around and tweak our sytems. My APR is very limited in what I can do, and Vinny literally got is SPS today so had no chance to fine tune anything. I did however, log my plots. On my last run I turned up the timing 5.5 degrees. The log still showed almost all 0 CF's. Either way, this is the plot of the baseline software and then turning up the timing 5.5 with lemmi.

for those that are interested... here is my log after bumping timing 5.5 degrees. This is the best run I had with the APR kit. Google Docs is not working from my job. I'm not sure what the lambda oscillations are all about. It looks like I could turn up the boost and still be pretty good since i start running a bit on the rich side.

Big difference in WHP and torque numbers between 3rd and 4th gear pulls.

Even bigger difference in WHP and torque numbers between the Dynapack and Dino Dynamics AWD chassis dynos.

Hope once and for all this dispels the belief there aren't any differences between the two gears and that third will provide higher WHP and torque figures...

First I'd like to thank Franz at Diebold Autosport for taking the time to do the testing on his new dyno. It was a learning experience.

Also there is a huge difference in the numbers between a Dynapack and Dyno Dymnamics AWD dynos. The pulls were done in nearly identical weather conditions, close enough anyway not to make a difference IMHO on the outcome. The dyno sessions were done a few days prior to my VIR track event. All pulls were done with fresh VP Racing MS109 race fuel.

Generally from our testing between the two types of dyno, the Dyno Dynamics returned numbers (WHP) that were around 15 to 17% less than the Dynapack depending in which gear the pull was done in.

As a reminder on the Dynapack after the corrections were made due to an error in programming the Dynapack my WHP numbers were approximately 440 WHP in fourth gear and calculated to be approximately 480 WHP in third gear.

The Dyno Dynamics properly calibrated and programmed for my car returned the following numbers at the wheels...

4th gear = 384.5 WHP (55.5 WHP less than the Dynapack).

3rd gear = 410.6 WHP (69.4 WHP less than the Dynapack).

On the Dyno Dynamics the difference between 3rd and 4th gear was still a rather big 26.1 WHP.

Take a look at the dyno graphs for the torque curve and how the gears affect the power delivery, interesting.

Also we wanted to see how the Dyno Dynamics software would work in its "estimated crank HP" setting so we did 3rd and 4th gear pulls for that too and the numbers are very interesting. It turns out to be pretty darn accurate.

Remember that on the engine dyno my car on VP109 returned approximately 520 CHP.

Well, I guess my car sucks. I found out about a new shop having a car show/dyno day today so myself and some friends went and 2 of us dynoed our car. The shop has the dyno dynamics aka heartbreaker dyno and it did its job [=(]

I am not sure if my car was running correctly or not because I did a log on the way there and the car was pulling a ton of timing for some reason. Here is the datalog from earlier in the day.

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a48/Urbamworm/28psilog.jpg

My laptop battery died so I was unable to log while it was on the dyno to see if it was still pulling a bunch of timing or not during the runs so I will never know.

I dynoed on 93 octane and my meth injection which was 2 bottles of heet mixed with some 0* washer fluid from Autozone. I am wondering if the meth wasn't working properly causing the issues earlier in the day, I don't know if that was my culpret or not. Boost was 28psi tapering to 26psi (it actually showed 29 for a split second but actually ran 28).

He could only graph 2 variables so I had him print the graph with hp/tq and then with a/f. My a/f seems to be running a little rich also and I have the crazy dip down when boost comes on so need some tweaking of the tune still. Also not sure why but my boost always tapers off like 2psi around 6500rpm, dont know if it is my mbc or maybe the .63 a/r housing of my turbo or what, but need to get that to hold boost as well.

Here it is 392whp. If the car was running correct timing during the pull then this is what kind of power according to this dyno that I am making and is how I ran the car to run 12.3@115mph and also trap 116mph on another run.

Here are some videos

dyno from rear of car (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayn-rm2oJ-s)

dyno from front (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yX2VpaV7xw)

Oh and my friend dynoed his B5 A4 with GT3071r and Tapp tuning on 24psi with 93 and meth and made 322whp right before me. This is the car I ran 12.1@111mph in at 25psi and pull on hard running down the road.

Also an R32 stock other than an exhaust flapper mod dynoed 215whp, and SRT-4 on stock turbo with intake and exhaust and tune at 20psi put down 275whp and a bone stock E46 M3 with SMG transmission put down 270whp to get a reference from some other cars that were there.

EDIT: logged the car since the dyno and it is still showing terrible timing pull. Car was definitely not running correctly.

Because Franz has access to multiple in-house engine dynos, and an in-house chassis dyno he is able to calculate the percentage difference and apply it to the chassis results. Its NEVER been more than 3whp off from actual CHP results, even on 1200whp cars. So you can continue laughing, but I wouldn't make fun of anything that comes from Franz.

Thats all wonderful fellas but YOU in-fact need to get the context right. I don't doubt the numbers, I'm laughing at the fact he has gone to such great lengths give out his "3rd gear #" stemming from the shit my build stirred up with him for whatever reason... do your homework people...

And tell me this smarty pants, if hes got such incredible access to dyno's and such why not just do a pull in third?

BTW I have all the respect in the world for all these people, but i'm not gonna get down salivate, at every curl of their lip and call them gods. The guys I work with, and who built MY car, are just as impressive, if not more, than any of these other guys I only hear about here. Especially since I see it first hand, Instead of read it on some public forum.

In case I haven't said it before (which I'm sure I have...) I'll say it again, Your car is sick JJ.

I don't understand what your beef is... Perhaps I wasn’t clear enough.

Going back to 2004 when I bought my car and after the break in period when we first dynoed to get a base line and after every mod thereafter I have always done 4th gear pulls on my car because I was told that 4th gear is nearly a perfect 1:1 ratio which is what should be used and not 3rd gear.

Since we all know some "tuners" were using 3rd gear pulls to get higher numbers thus skewing the results I decided after this built to do 3rd and 4th gear pulls on both the Dynapack and the Dyno Dynamics to see the differences between these two gear ratios on both types of dynos. Please note that the Dyno Dynamics used for the pulls as the older software in it which makes it render lower WHP and torque numbers. It's like a MAHA in that sense, which is also known as a "heart breaker". The newer software on the newer Dyno Dynamics gives higher numbers in the order of about +12% (perhaps more) IIRC.

So it is very clear that a 3rd gear pull will return higher numbers on both types of dyno and again 3rd gear in our cars is not the closest to a 1:1 ratio. On a Dynapack the difference between the 3rd and 4th gear is about 40WHP but only 26.1 WHP on the Dyno Dynamics.

As for the "estimated CHP" you seem to laugh about well my tuner wanted to see how good the Dyno Dynamics estimated CHP software would perform. In fact it did remarkably well. Remember on his engine dyno we got approximately 520 CHP and the Dyno Dynamic's estimated CHP software while we did some pulls in 4th gear gave us 509.4 CHP and in 3rd gear 519.5 CHP which is pretty darn close to the engine dyno's number.

And that was all the points to that post. Hope it clears up some misunderstandings.

Franz is meticulous and a perfectionist. He's like a computer with a wealth of knowledge stored in his head and I mean this in a very positive non condescending way. I am sure there are other very capable tuners out there but I feel very fortunate some people lead me his way.

^did I just read that right. 1.8L - 500awhp (based on km/h on dyno sheet), full boost by 4300rpm? Or is this CHP (which is still great)?

And I thought the 1.8 NA cams were exactly the same as the 1.8t? Even the euro 1.8na.

They have slightly more duration and about 1mm more lift. Imo they work great at top and help spool too, They are ADR cams. On the road its full boost 3800-4200 actually :) We dont use whp. Aiming for 600(+?) with another higher comp engine and hx40#18 using E85. Timing was about 11 on e98 and 15 on racefuel.

A whole lot of stock parts replaced. This car is running at it's best right now.

Here is my graph from the Dyno day at ICS performance on Oct. 23 2011
This pull was the best one of the day. I am happy with the number's considering what I have done to the car. Very nice low end torque.

here is the build thread

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/512234-Edge-Motors-usp-1-8t-build

couple of dyno runs:
first one with 33psi
the ecu is picking up lifter noise, that's why the power is limited until 8000rpm it was puling 9 degrees timing and 8000rpm ecu stops reading knock sensors the timing goes up to 18degrees...
http://edgemotors.com/photos/var/resizes/Shop-Projects/White-ultra-sport-project-/S1.jpg?m=1352487734

this one is is at 28psi same thing with timing pull
http://edgemotors.com/photos/var/resizes/Shop-Projects/White-ultra-sport-project-/S3.jpg?m=1352487741

working on taking care of the lifter noise now, will dyno soon...:)
