View Full Version : Painting stock 15" rims (I did search)

i have a silver b5 with tinted tails (except the backup light), tinted windows, its lowered, painted lowers. I don't have the budget to buy new rims, so i was thinking of painting the stock ones gloss black. i was also thinking of maybe painting a midnight blue line right where the tire meets the rim. i have blue corner lights and backup lights so it would kind of go with that flow.

Just want to get some opinions or even better if someone has pictures of stock painted black rims on a silver b5.

Honestly, just wait to get some 17" or 18" wheels. You can find a good deal on the classified here if you save maybe $800-$1200 (that is for wheels and tires).

Nothing wrong with wanting to paint those 15"s, but if I were you I would ditch them for some B6 wheels or something. I was thinking about doing the same with my stockers but, to me, its not worth it.

id just keep them and paint them. then eventually when your ready to buy nice rims use those as winter wheels (for trips to tahoe)

I just repainted mine gloss black with red rings.

X2, just not worth it. Will attract some undesired attention compared to just leaving them stock (it will look normal).

nothing wrong with painting your stock wheels black.
Paint them, and when you save some cash, just get new wheels. I did it.

I got a piece of cardboard and sprayed some read paint then simply touched the lug nut cap thing to it. it took a little maneuvering to get the rings perfectly red.

I painted mine black last summer. And they're working great as winter wheels right now. I'm just waiting to throw down some money on my Team Dynamic's.

so what do you guys think about painting the audi rings silver instead of red with the rest of the rim in black?
