Felipe!!! I've been keeping track of your build since the beginning. You've put so much time and effort into your car that you'd have to take a loss on it. don't make the same mistake I did...keep the car and drive it as is if you have to.

going to agree with this. Comming from someone that has parted out 2 heavily modified vehicles. My mazda had close to $10K in parts/maintiance I'm betting.. and I got out of it probaly close to 40% what I put it considering the cost of the car when I bought it and what I sold it and the parts for.

Keep it you will regret selling it after putting so much into it. Trust me I know I still regret getting rid of my mk3.

just keep it. once you get rid of it,you'll want one. just get a job, nothing spectacular, and keep it goin! its coming along very nice. I know its hard to do with school and everything but you can do it! dont let us down man! if i can do it, along with alot more of us out there, you can.

Not jumping on the band wagon, but def keep it. If funds is an issue, just try and find a decent paying job. At least keep it and just not spend money on it and when you become financially stable, you will be even more happy that you did not sell your B5. It is becoming a classic and you tastefully modded yours.

You could take it off the road, as I am sure you are already used to the downtime [:p], and just drive your girl's car while you finish schooling. Just start it up every now and then. This will save you money on insurance and gas fees, plus you can place more concentration on schooling than your vehicle. Then when school is done, place the key in the ignition and [drive]. Your own graduation gift.

I was at this point a year ago.. Parts just kept failing. I stuck with it and am really happy with my car. I must say it kinda sucks having a daily driver this fast... you get immune to the speed...

I went through this last week, man......keep the damn thing. It'd be stupid to sell ur baby at this point. I won't sell mine until I can afford an S5....and even THEN it'll be fuckin hard to part with this thing. It just makes no sense......money will come in the future. All college students are BROKE as shit. They all spend money on one thing or another. Ur not the only one.....at least YOU"VE got something to show for it

but if you DO sell, trade me those 13" rotors for my a8's [:D]

Damn, it's a focking hard ass decision, and you all are right. I just needed that comfort from you guys not to sell it.

Seerlah's idea sounds good. I'll just take it out for events and shit like that.

you've already spent the big amount it takes to get it where it is, the rest is bullshit. just keep it going, and the make it as practical as possible. if after it's running you still feel this way, then get rid of it. at least you won't take such a big loss with it in non-running condition, or at least having the gratification of finishing a project in which you've invested tons of time and money... nothing feels worse than giving up, unless of course you hop into a new, more reliable and exciting car the next week haha :)

FWIW, back in my paintball days I dropped wayyyy too much money into my paintball gun. there wasn't one stock part on it when I was done. When I got out of paintball I was selling all of my gear and my girlfriend talked me into not selling the gun....

...two years later I'm SO glad I still have it, even if I haven't used it in a while. You have way more time/money into your car, KEEP IT.

you reached the point of no returned when you bought the BAT shit. hahaha. just keep it. part with some of the less important things to get some cash back in your pocket. like the Porsche brakes and wheels.

By the time you fully part out the car and put yourself in a new one, you pretty much just break even and now drive a slow ass car. Its two steps back. Not to mention parting out a car is a HUGE bitch. I ended up just giving shit away for free pretty much.

Weren't you the one whom posted that thread giving parts away from your old car? Saying to bring wrench and if a person can take it off (the car), they can have it.

To Pipe, pardon for the thread jack

yeah that was me. people wanted to throw me a couple bucks so I ended up collecting about $180 bucks from a few generous members here for random parts and I donated it to an animal shelter.

Maybe i should make a thread about selling my car so people can talk me out of it too...
This has become a weekly thing around here, and all the responses are usually the same.

Pretty soon you'll be able to search "should i sell my BT a4" and get an answer

ehh put it up for sale and if it sells get rid of it. I had a turbo project while in college, a mk3 aba16v turbo. parted it got more money then i put into it and had loads of cash for the last 2 years of school. Then I graduated and bought a new project, so much easier to finish a car with lots of money coming in.

If it's not even running or able to run yet, it's going to be harder to sell. I wouldn't pay much more than $6000 for it.

This is so true. I think everyone who has a BT or BAT A4 has had the thought of selling it, I know I did. As everyone else said, you're already past the point of no return and there is no point of parting with you car if your gonna lose all the money you put into it. Your car is going to be awesome when its done Felipe and I have a lot of respect for you for getting it this far. You'll regret giving up something that you're so close to completing and nothing beats the feeling of admiring something you built with your own two hands [up] I wish you the best of luck in your project and hope to see your car up and running %110 [wrench][drive]

felipe, glad you're keeping the car. You can always sell it if you really need to do so. However, if you sell it now, you may always regret it like I do. I love my MS3, but damn I miss the B5. I could have taken the $4k down payment I put into the Ms3 and built a nice motor and stepped up to a real bat.

I feel your pain man, I haven't invested nearly as much as you in your car but I did invest more than I could afford into mine just for my turbo to blow and waste about 2 grand trying to get it running perfect, but I have no money now as a college student it's definitely hard since you don't have the perfect hours to get a job. So now that my car is running perfect I had to take it off the road because I couldn't pay my insurance anymore =[....I should sell it but I don't want to let it go.
