seriously? ive been in a chipped 225 TT and it doesn't feel like a chipped K03 car at all. 225 TT is no A4 tho....

i would love to setup a blind test to see who thinks what has more power. we will have one with chipped k03 and chipped k04 as well as a chipped k04 with one of the aggressive tunes and see who thinks what is what. I think park of the power you "experience" is from knowing what you have and are putting in therefor expecting to get a gain in hp as were since you think you are in your mind it will faster than before.

TT225 is a totally different car and uses a K04-20 you cannot compare the two

exactly the "butt" dyno feels a gain but in reality you can't feel a 5-20chp increase

whats the compressor/turbine design compared to the K04-15 then?

K04-15's barely push 200whp the K04-20 in the TT can make upwards of 240whp, I know someone who made 277whp and ~300ish wtq on their TT225 with stock turbo

I'm not trying to make you feel bad I'm just saying that if you already had a chipped K03 car don't expect a huge increase in power, other than that it'll be a blast to drive until you get used to the power [wrench]

its quicker, but its not like going from stock to chipped. there will be more area under the curve and more powerband.

its only a matter of time until you go bt... lol

my pc16 lasted 6months before i wanted more.

what did you end up doing for the flash???

Don't listen to everyone who says there's no difference between chipped K03 and an aggressive K04 file.

Not everyone has the funds to go from stock to a 35R with internals and the workings right away, K04 is a happy medium. The cost of an entire PC-16 setup can be the cost of just the turbo for a BT/BAT build.

K04 is tons of fun for around town too and it isn't too shabby on the highway. Torque spike = fun spike. You'll love it when you install it!

I bought my k04 cause the car was too depressing to drive around town. with the k04 it makes it bearable to drive daily. if you want to go fast then the pc-16 / k04 isnt the right way

Your butt probably needs calibrating then. [>_<]

I'm guessing this was a newer 225 and he had a race gas tune with a crapload of bolt-ons?
Either that or it was while using a Dynapak dyno.

i went pc-16 a couple years ago. at that time, it was just easier. A big turbo thread would be like 10pgs long in a few days from everyone drooling over it. now its pretty common and makes going BT easier since there are plenty of tunes for them.

here was my progression

stock
chipped
k04 pc16
gt2871r elim
gt3071r .63 ar with built bottom end.
gt3076t .82ar built bottom end and built head.

so only a matter of time till 2.2l gt35r right? hahaha

if evolution has taught us anything, you will be correct lol.

see i tried to not spend as much money as i could, yet it never works out that way but i still fell into the k04 (for some reason, i think it was the fact of emission and that i owed 4k on the car)
mine went

stock
chipped
k04 pc16
stock (gotta save money right?)
50 trim .63
next will be built motor
....then you know the rest haha

unitronic claims 300chp from their k04 tune with supporting mods...how is that the same as 220chp?

Que? The aggressive K04 files (PC-16, et all) are usually in the 250chp and 300ft/lbs of torque range.

hmmm...maybe i read my info wrong, i was told 250/300...perhaps he was saying what you said, i figured 250-300hp.

either way, i would likely not go k04 unless i was in a bind.

I grabbed the k04 base file and turbo from AWE when they were running their holiday special. I got the whole thing for $1099 TUNED. I bet not a lot of people can say that they got a brand new turbo, tuned, for that price. I went from a shitty ebay k03 with a chipped ecu, but my cat is fucked up right now and will only let me push 15psi at max. that being said - before the cat problem the chipped k03 was berserk (it was dead before that) but good thing i went k04 when i did, the kid i sold the turbo to for $100 had it blow a seal on him like a week later (NJM 23 has it in his car while he's waiting to throw the 3076 in).

And i've since picked up a front mount ic for $100, bailey's dv, and am waiting on injectors/exhaust and i'll be at 250/300. So for a total of what, 2g? Thats getting all brand new stuff too. Not bad if you ask me.

Besides - if i wanted more power i could just sell the k04/chip/injectors and should be enough to land me an elim if i want. Just my thoughts; it was worth it :)

What injectors are recommended for the pc-16?

taken from GIACusa:

10. How do I get the custom PC16 K04 file to work on my '97-99 AudiĀ® A4/Passat 1.8T?

The "PC16_01_K04" file was a originally a custom chip written for a 1999 Audi A4 1.8t, with the following hardware:
FMIC that will keep IAT's below 50 degrees Celsius.
3 Bar Fuel Pressure Regulator.
31 lb \"red top\" Bosch Motorsport injectors.
02 sensor with less than 50,000 miles on it.
Spark plugs with less than 10,000 miles on them.
Fuel Filter with less than 50,000 miles on it.
A clean Air Filter.
If you are planning to upgrade to the PC16 file make sure you have all of the above required components.
