View Full Version : Stupid Question #432 (a personal best for me)

I have a 99 A4 1.8TQTip. I do not have an owners manual. The car is completely stock. There are two foglight switches on the dash - one points towards the driver with the beam lines angled downward. The other points towards the passenger with the beam lines straight (horizontal). If the second switch is on, the first one automatically comes on. I have looked and looked and do not notice a difference in the light pattern or brightness. What is the difference?

I did a search and only found a nasty thread about taking out a shield.

oh oh oh i know this one!!!

cause i asked it about 2 weeks ago, lol.

the green is for a rear fog light. lights up one brake light as a sort of warning light for heavy fog, snow or rain

sucks not having an owners manual doesnt it?

it doesnt light up the brakelight, theres actually an independent bulb specifically for the switch. and dont be the guy that always drives around with his rear foglight on because he thinks it looks cool, its actually pretty bright and annoying because its made to be used in dense fog.

it's also used when people drive behind you with their brights on and tail you! [:p]

I will second the notion that it's a rear fog light. When you turn the rear one on (only if the lights are on) the front fogs will come on automatically.

You know what pisses me off - when people use the rear foglight at night in the rain - THERE'S NO NEED - you're just making it really hard for the drivers behind you see anything.
