Hey guys, I currently lurk in the Midwest forum, but I'm looking to move, possibly to Texas. Anyone on here happen to know about IT or programming jobs in the Dallas/Houston area? I'm thinking at least a year out, but I'm getting tired of the Wisconsin snow & below zero temps. Not looking for open positions, rather I'm hoping to find out about the job climate - general availability, would programming be for software sale or internal applications, etc. Also, if I go this route, I'd need a buddy in the area that I could ask about where the "bad areas" are. Ex: If you want to live in Milwaukee, stay away from 30th & Center (or basically anywhere north & west of downtown) unless you like severe crime. Again I'm looking around a year out. Thanks to anyone who posts.

I have a buddy who runs an IT group for a major bank, in Houston. What's your skill set? I can forward and let you know if he's interested.
I can answer questions about Houston. What are you looking for?

Most of the major cities in Dallas are flooded with IT guys... especially hardware support / troubleshooters, etc etc. However, programmers are much needed in all aspects, also in Telecom. Research in Motion just relocated to Dallas as well as Nokia-Siemens.
