Is anybody running 17 x 7.0 et38 on a B6 A4. I have found a cheep and light weight set that I would like to use for my autocross setup. If so are spacers needed and how big?

Dont you want to run a wider wheel when auto crossing so
you get a larger area of contact?

I cant put on a larger wheel without moving up to a different class. Im don't think I will have a problem putting a 225 width slick on a 7 inch wide rim. Anybody have experience with this?

Not a problem at all. Offset and width fit fine and 225's will work on 7" wheels. I do it for my track setup.
