Unplugging them, taping them off, and disconnecting the airbag igniter under the pass seat for now, until I get to figure out on my own where those wires go. Don't want to take any chances.

LOL, but not really. It isn't like the sensors are connected directly to the air bags and the module shuts off the sensor that is not working so that it doesn't cause the air bags to go off for no reason while you are driving.

Answer the first part too... I'm curious as well, you do have an 044 pump...

mike-2ptzero
02-18-2009, 09:52 AM
870cc

Then you do want to tune at 3 bar since you will have plenty of head room for injector on time and 3 bar will allow you more flow once you start pushing high boost. Only time you want to run higher fuel pressure is when the injectors are maxed out and done have a fuel flow issue or fuel pressure drop issue.

agreed, more pressure = more stress

mike-2ptzero

Eh, bullshit... He will be running race gas and E85, 4 bar for the fucking win

4 bar isn't going to be any better then 3 bar, fact is that his pump flow rating will be lower if he runs 4 bar base once he hits full boost. Not hard to figure out seeing that the flow rating for pumps all get lower as the pressure goes up. Hell if I could I would run 3 bar all the time even at full boost if possible, but that would mean running HUGE injectors.

http://www.jayracing.com/images/Bosch_044_vs_Walbro_255HP.JPG

3 bar base + 25-30psi = 68.5 - 73.5 psi
4 bar base + 25-30psi = 83 - 88 psi

Lower base means more room before you start seeing a pressure drop issue. Its funny because I always see people increasing their base fuel pressure when they have a pressure drop issue, the funny part is that they are just making the issue worse by making it happen sooner.

317ssayzarc
02-18-2009, 10:17 AM
He will push more fuel at 4 bar than 3 bar... Might have a little less flow but it'll still have overall lower duty cycle... He will need all the duty cycle he can get on E85 especially

mike-2ptzero
02-18-2009, 10:23 AM

He will spray more fuel because higher pressure increases the size of the injector by over coming the pressure under the injector in the runner, but that is a bandaid to just running larger injectors.

BTW 4 bar just makes his 870cc injectors 1005cc. So at some point he could just run 1000cc injectors set right around 3 bar.

If I was running >20psi I would not want to be running a 4Bar, but that's me, and I don't want my fuel pressure to ever touch 80psi.
3 Bar + big inj FTW.

Enough about fuel, I'm not the one building or tuning it, so it doesn't make a big difference.

Vids, pics, dyno??

And I'm a little late for it, but if you just unplug the connector for any airbag system, it will neutralize that airbag, and often the entire system. No need to worry if you need to leave it unplugged for a bit.

The car pulls hard, I know it has to be around the 400awhp range seeing that I pulled hard on a EVO that claimed he was putting down 370wheel.

Well funny thing is that my exhaust wheel was pretty chewed up most likely for years and that thing had to be out of balance a bit. But yes you dont want to screw up the rest of the turbo because then it cant be upgraded by FP and this means spending another $1400+ on another GT3076r or $1700 on a HTA.

i meant price, but the other info is good to. im kinda leaning towards a tapp tune but this ssp sounds promising.

You could probably take a trip up to NY and have him street tune it.

Thats how I bent one of my old wheels. NYC will destroy your car and I am being serious. The biggest mistake I ever made was driving my car to NYC.

Lets not be to crazy.. You just gotta drive slow..and careful ha. I bottomed out my front bumper ONCE driving for 4+hrs in NYC with my car at 23 3/4" GTF.

BTW 3076, 870cc + 4"maf (was either that or the 3 and since I already had a 4" inlet filter figured why not.) This is with SSP.

I used to live in Manhattan, its not as bad as you're making it out to be, in the past year they have repaved a good 70% of the roads in Manhattan. Its the outer boroughs that are fairly bad, just need to be careful and drive slowly. (Which I don't do and my car is fine anyway)

Well, like I said, its better if you contact him directly and talk to him about your set up and what he can do to help you out. His name is Greg.

2001S4NY is his contact. And the best way to do it is to drop of your car for a week or two. He drives the car on a daily basis tuning the car everyday. Currently he's tuning a stock turbo B6, the thing stomps on a APR chipped 6spd 2.0T A4 with exhaust and intake lol. While the B6 has essentially the same mods. Best part is, its not fully complete yet.

Greg's tunes are a no compromise balls out tune tailored to your car, not off the shelf software that doesn't do the job correctly.

haha, then it would be another 8 weeks. I actually had to speak to the owner, he looked around and apparently found a misplaced 3076 compressor wheel in a 35r bin, and I 'lucked out'. So if that really did happen then yes, Im a lucky son of a bitch.

I was just told about 1-2 weeks for a full HTA30r, so they must have the parts now.

Its in. First impressions. It kicks way harder than the old turbo did but its kicking harder at lower boost as well. Also, it no longer sounds like a jet, very quiet, cannot hear the spool, even with the windows down, at higher RPM's you can slightly, but before not at all. The earlier spool is immediately noticeable, I was hitting 20psi 500-700rpms earlier

Install was smooth, I just had to re-clock the turbo in order to align with the intercooler piping. They also used different bolts on the exhaust side of the turbo, the clearance on the coolant pipes is tight.

Started up the car, there was no air in the coolant, (THANK GOD) But after a quick drive I noticed that some oil is sweating out of the brass oil feed fitting. Gotta put some Teflon tape. It got better once I got home, I guess it just needs to go through a few heat cycles to re expand.

Also while the car was down I added a few goodies. I wrapped by trim in CF cloth. Painted my wheels and calipers. Painted my grill surround. I installed Devils Own Meth injection kit, and a Greddy Profec B Spec II.

I'll have a dedicated thread / pics soon.

Wow.. I can't believe it's quieter than the regular 76R... I can't wait to get my car up and running again! Thanks for the feedback on it!
