View Full Version : DIY: B5 A4/S4 Reset OIL & INSPEC Light

I had to figure this out the hard way but got it. So thought this might help people in the future.
1.Switch ignition off
2.Press and hold the odometer trip reset button (next to the speedometer)
3.With the button still pressed, turn ignition on (do not start engine)
4.You will see "SERVICE OIL" appear on the display.
5.Pull and hold clock knob out until you see "-----", that clears the OIL.
6.Then turn the button to the odometer trip reset (counter-clockwise) for about 5 seconds until you see "INSPEC"
7.And repeat step 5 and that should reset the "INSPEC" light.
The display will then return to normal mode - all done!

My mechanic actually printed this out for me to keep in the glovebox. No idea why, considering he's the one doing all the interval maintenance..

any way to change the service intervals? I want mine to come on every 5,000km?

Dude I couldn't find that site, I knew it existed but I couldn't find it (operator error on searching lol) , so I said f*** it Ill figure it out with what I could remember.

does not work on a 1996 with ins 2 light on.
