10-24-2004, 07:29 PM
get hood pins, not worth the risk

10-24-2004, 08:01 PM
yes.. what do you think about hood pin for your vis? do you like your current cf hood? and how much was it from where?
Thank you..
what do you think about those fiber image?i posted

Looks good I guess. Unfortunately I haven't gotten into modding that part of my car yet so I haven't done the necessary research on the topic. There are more than enough other knowledgable people here though.

10-24-2004, 08:20 PM
well.. if you don't mind me asking, what's your mod list so far, just want to know what i have to do Thanks zodiak

10-24-2004, 08:38 PM
what happens if you dont have hood pins?

10-24-2004, 08:59 PM
since the hood is too light in weight, if you drive at certain speed and when the air flows under the hood it can flip out and crash into wind shild and GAME OVER.....

10-24-2004, 09:33 PM
how about one from awe?
it still says don't need hood pin, i really don't want the hood pin if i don't have to , please help...

10-24-2004, 09:53 PM
I PM'd you. See what people say tomorrow, the forum slows down on the weekends, especially sunday. But I'm sure once work starts some of the other guys with hoods will chime in. You could also call AWE and ask them

10-24-2004, 09:57 PM
Thanks zodiak, really thank you for your attention always..

10-24-2004, 10:26 PM
no problem. always willing to help out someone local

10-24-2004, 10:43 PM
Technically you don't need hood pins since the hood uses the factory latching system. Many competition cars w/ cf hoods don't. The way the a4 hood wraps around the front makes this even less of a concern. It wouldn't hurt, but if you don't like the look then don't bother. It's also a pain finding more pins when people decide they need to take them.

10-24-2004, 11:39 PM
humm... don't know...i still cann't decide..really don't like pins
how about the color, silver to match my car color is better right?
or just get black regular carbon look with silver a4

10-25-2004, 02:06 AM
I think hood pins look fine, they're definitely worth getting so your windshield doesn't get smashed =]

10-25-2004, 05:24 AM
Get hood pins your better off with them...and besides if the hood flew open at a fast enough speed besides it breaking the windshield it could also smash the roof.

10-25-2004, 06:32 AM
Don't get hood pins and run the risk of the of your car being destroyed.

10-25-2004, 06:52 AM
all i am saying is now, than why fiber-image listed
no-need for hood pin? or theirs better than others without pin but still i will be better off with pin?

10-25-2004, 08:00 AM
yea dude, that would blow ass if your windshield got fu(ked up. or wose yet. your car. i think you sould paint them black (the hood pins). so itll match your hood. it would look sick.

10-25-2004, 08:56 AM
my thoughts exactly!! that would look great!

10-25-2004, 08:59 AM
Technically you dont need hood pins to secure the hood and that is why they post that about the hoods. Safety wise I say better safe then sorry. I ran without hood pins for awhile, but on the highway I would see the hood wiggle at high speeds. That was enough for me to get hood pins.

those things were pretty cool.

nice,............but damn, $125?

10-25-2004, 09:57 AM
If I needed a set I would get those. I think they are worth the money.

10-25-2004, 11:26 AM
Worth every penny.

10-25-2004, 11:58 AM
so bottom line, you all saying even though they says their hood is using oem latch and don't need hood pin, i still need them right?
o.k. than...
how much am i expecting to install hood pin?

10-25-2004, 12:10 PM
You can the install youself. All you need is a good drill and bit set. That is what I did.

10-25-2004, 12:12 PM
if i m getting one, i rather have it done by professional shop
nothing against your skill, just i don't trust myself with drill and cf hood. if i get done with shop how much?

10-25-2004, 12:14 PM
Who knows? Also I would make sure that the shop is willing to replace the hood if they mess up.

10-25-2004, 12:29 PM
ok.. Thanks..
and just one more, are you happy with regular black cf hood and silver car? or silver weaved cf hood is better
and what brand do you have? fiber image? vis?
Thank you for your help

10-25-2004, 12:37 PM
I have VIS and I like the plain CF. Plus I have the dark rims to offset the rest of the car.

10-25-2004, 12:39 PM
yes i c your rims looking really nice,
is yours gel coated? or clear coated? how's it during winter
again thanks for your infos

10-25-2004, 12:44 PM
It is clear coated and I actually left it on all winter. No problems what so ever. CF is stronger then most people think, no to mention that it can withstand extreme temperatures.

10-25-2004, 12:50 PM
sorry to bother you too much mike but, if i may ask one more
( i better ask it all at once but,,)
as far as care wise, how often do you have to wax it? and what kind wax do you use on cf hood? regular car wax?
Thanks again

10-25-2004, 12:53 PM
