Well, got my appointment today for a GIAC chip...I can't wait.

I'm wondering if there is anything else I need to upgrade (whether short or long term) to properly harness all of the new power. It's a 2001 1.8T Quattro 5spd with the sport package, everything else stock. Thanks for any info.

might want to upgrade you diverter valve as the stock one has been known to fail due to the higher psi. search: Diverter Valve, DV, BPV, 710n, Forge, Baileys for more information

Bigger exhaust 2 1/4 - 2 1/2" diam. Better breathing, less restriction, more power. Then FMIC to take care of the added heat generated from the increase in thrust.
You'll never believe how great it is once you get it chipped! :0))))))))

New Spark plugs NGK B6RKE's with the gap set between .028 and .030.

I'd recommend the Forge PISTON Type ($150). They work really well. My 710N lasted till I went to my K04 and GIAC K04 update and then she blew the diaphram. Wish I had started with the Forge![;)]

DV is not a MUST on the A4, on the S4 it is. It is a good idea anyways though. All the above are good upgrades.

Anytime you are going beyond the limits of stock parts.... YES it is a MUST!

besides all else... you may even want to throw in a K&N filter for better air digestion.

>insert excuses here for not using a K&N filter<

Same debate here as the last 50 Skene, it's always good to replace it, the 710N will blow a diaphragm anyways, the Bosch 110 is a cheap and effective alternative, but upgrading is more expensive now, cheaper later, yatta yatta.

Thanks fellas...I'll look in to a new DV valve. That's just the stuff I need to find out about. And, I am planning on getting a new exhaust system in the near future...

put some stickers on your car. that will make it faster and it lets people know that you are chipped

Forsure upgrade your DV to a bailey, forge, etc. Check your hoses and if u dont have a boost guage, invest in one too
