View Full Version : Powerband for 99.5 1.8T???

plays with cars

Hey guys, here's the ultimate noob question. I bought a used 99.5 A4 Avant and totally love it. The car came with an APR chip and there is definitely a difference between the stock mode and chipped mode, but I'm surprised the car doesn't start to pull until 4000 rpm in either mode. I've talked to others with 1.8Ts in other cars and they all say their cars start pulling at 1900rpm.

Does 4000rpm sound right for this car? If not, any likely candidates to start troubleshooting?

(note: I've owned the car for a year and it's always run like this, but last week it through an 1136 code - long term fuel trim, lean. Related to the powerband question?)

i have always herd they start pulling hella around 2000 rpm, but since its a APR, its more evenly distributed around the power band...rather than a fat rush around 2000 rpm then a drop around 5ish

I got that code a few times but i would only get it wheni would drive it hard, and then it would just turn off a day or so later if i didnt drive hard. But i finally found out that i had a cracked boost line and have never had the problem since.

Powerband should start at 3400rpm. If you go to APRs site and look at their dyno charts, you'll see.

3500 sounds about right.
