I called my insurance company today to see how the claim was comming along. They gave me a value of $9050. I questioned it, just to make sure that everything was correct. The milage that they recorded was the "average" of 177 000 KMS because the battery was dead, I only have 155 000. This added to the appraised amount. They conveniently decided to leave out the fact that I had leather seats and the convenience package. When everything was re-appraised they came to a price of $9900. About 3 months ago I paid 10600 from a dealer, I am just wondering if i should fight a little more for a higher price or if it is not worth it and I should just accept the $9900. I still have my sales recipt

Never settle for less with an insurance company!

You paid 10,6 and you're getting 9,9 back "minus deductible?" .. don't think you're going to get more than that but it's probably worth trying.

I would say that's alright. It's not too far from what you paid, so at least they aren't screwing you.

Thats so weird. Everyone I talk to gets such crappy amounts. I bought my car for 11, and I got 16 back after about a year. And teenage use. And it was an automatic.. I didn't argue.

With it only three months old I would fight for them to pay your purchase price+taxs-deductible.

I'm a State Farm Agent here in Toronto. You can ALWAYS argue to get more. Make sure you list every possible option you had on the car, any repairs, upgrades, etc. are ALL taken into consideration when valueing a total loss.

The first number the insurance company throws at you is always a low-ball number because they expect you to retort.

You could buy it back and part it out to make more off of the deal. Or to use it for parts. I wasn't saying buy it back to fix it.

I don't really see anything on the car worth buying it back for. Was the car stock?

yeah the car was stock. My purchase price was 8700 + taxes, plus a warranty. they gave me 8750 plus taxes. I think its pretty fair

yeah i totally would not want to go through the pain of trying to part out a car that is junk. just isnt worth it in my book

How the hell did you get a warranty? No aftermarket warranty company would take on my 00 S4 with 133K. No one. Rejected by every single company as most companies have this car as 'blacklisted'.

Probally bc it is an S4 and not an A4. The s4 has higher maintance/repair cost then an A4.

ok, this is amazing. Insurance just sent me the form to be signed and dated in order to get my cheque and it is broken down like this:

Total amount of loss or damage: $8750
Taxes: $1137.50
Deductible: Waived 27s

whatever the waived 27s means, i would have thought that they would have written $1000 in the space, which is my deductible..... Maybe i got lucky and dont have to pay a deductible? That would be awesome and i would profit close to 2000 from this payout hehe

they prolly wouldnt insure due to the fact that the 2.7 has more high dollar repairs (turbos, cam tensioner seals, side engine mounts, trans) are high dollar repairs.

the offer sounds good enough to me, but owning a 01 a4, i would suggest going with a 99.5 1.8tqm so you can have the facelift body with the more stout engine. also, any money you save on a cheaper car you can put towards mods.

im getting this 2001 at an amazing deal. I dont like the interior of the 99.5 either, mainly the cluster and single din console. the only 99.5 that i found around here is 500 cheaper but has a failed central locking pump and a ripped drivers side seat (+40k more kms) not really worth it imho

Unless you got a really good deal from the dealership when you bought it the fact that the insurance is even close to your purchase price is good.

I made the mistake of buying mine from a Honda dealership (where someone had traded it in) and getting their extended warranty that was for one year less than the included warranty from the Audi dealer and didn't cover everything, had I only known. The Audi dealer told me they re-warranty their used vehicles for an additional four years included in the exorbitant price.

definitely not. that car is DONE. Insurance just totalled my 2001 S4 after a car hydroplaned into me in the front. they gave me $13k, had 120k miles on the clock. i was pretty surprised i got that much. luckily i found another '01 with 68k miles for $12.5k! GL with your new ride hope everything works out
