My car had been burning a lot of oil so I took it to the dealer to be looked at. They preformed an oil consumption test and they said the results are the pistons rings are letting too much oil in so they need to be replaced with some new redisigned ones. Has anybody else had this issue or problem?[:|]

If you are too rough on the car during the break in period, this can happen.

14,000 miles

Not sure if you've seen my other topic but I am at 14k too and I have the same problem. No time to take it to them though; is it very serious?

holy shit. 14k and the rings are leaking? How much oil do you lose over lets say 1,000miles?

How is the warranty handle something like this? My guess is it does not.

Sounds like either a) improper engine break-in (but that occurs within the first 30miles) or b) improper spec'd piston rings (but I highly doubt that given all the other 2.0s out there perfectly fine.).

It is being covered under warrant and I didn't take my car from the dealer until it had 110 miles on it. But in the end warranty is paying for al of it.
