UPDATED WITH VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-b9oDGZcng
I ended up ordering the cutouts from the www.jegs.com website. The sound blew me away; it exceeded all expectations. I did a resonator delete on my
B6 and it didn't sound nearly this good. Im really just speechless it sounds so good [drive] They are placed a little lower than i was hoping but they are directly inline with the rear wheels so it won't be a big deal. They are as high as i could get them without burning through the suspension bushings. Im going to order an RS4 sway and when i install it i'll get some pictures with the car up on the lift for a better view.

do you have to cut into the exhaust to put these on?

Is this something that you can do yourself?
noob ?uestion
what do these do exactly? Bypass the exhaust?

Yes if you have the welder but having an exhaust shop do it saves a lot of hassle for less than 50$.

It bypasses the resonators but still goes through the muffler. Audi mufflers are fairly free-flowing so it sounds aftermarket.
Video will be up by tonight.

Any plans to attach an electric valve?

so is this simply a resonator delete? or is it something where you keep the resonator and have the option to use it or not use it? what would also be sick is if you could could have the option to open up the exhaust before the resonator. now we are talking loud loud loud. for very short periods of time obviously

Yes the resonators are still there. If i put the covers back on the cut outs than the exhaust will go through the resonators and be just like stock.

so when its open it will not be using the res. or mufflers so its just straight pipping? i have a test pipe so it would be 100% straight pipeing i assume. woww haha would cool for short time periods

No.. when its closed it goes through resonators.. when its open it goes through the muffler. There are no cutouts in front of the muffler. Videos downloading than i will put on youtube.

Hey, that sounds pretty good! How about a clip from inside?

wait woahh. i may be wrong but i thought the mufflers (plural, back of the car) were the mufflers and the resonator (not plural) was the resonator (center of the car) we might be mixxed up.

it sound likes it goes through the resonator and then exits the cutouts, or if closed goes through the resonator and rear mufflers.

I thought the resonators were the 2 in the rear and the muffler was in the middle..

negative, other way around. it looks like its split off between the resonator and muffler. when open you hear resonator only, when closed you hear resonator then muffler. if you hooked it up to bypass the resonator then go back into the muffler your exhaust system would look like the pipes screen saver.

what does the pipes screen saver sound like? but ya that is why i was confused we were talking about different exhaust parts. so how easy is this thing to turn off and on? do you jack up the car every time?
sdjeff

Its very easy to change. I just slip under, put a cover on and tighten down the wingnuts. It takes probably 2 minutes.
Apologies for my confusion.

peep these cutouts: https://shop.quicktimeperformance.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=30
these are electric cutouts that use a butterfly door that can be electronically controlled to open and close. but with these, its technically straight pipe. It cuts right after the cat if im not mistaken.

these are the cutouts i got, they run on a switch..
http://www.dmhperformance.com/ecutout.htm
EDIT: Cutouts, depending on the car, can produce great gains...its not really for the sound, but it doesnt hurt to have a mean sounding car for short periods of time. [:D]

you have that on your b7? can you take a video!? before or after the resonator? this is really tempting

^^ wouldnt you just need a single cut off if you were going to place it in front of the resonator?

yea except on a car with a ko3 they really do nothing but hurt performance...
a nice free flowing exhaust will be much better than a cutout way down past the restrictive pipes
