Has anybody installed an alcantra headliner in a B6 or B7 A4? If so pictures would be nice. Thanks

I've always wanted an alcantara headliner.... Just don't feel like having my headliner removed and ending up with rattles and sweaks

Here is a link from a Taiwanese audi website.
Although it is in Chinese, hope the pics can be references!

Some one in the A3 forum wrapped theirs in suede.
I'm planning on wrapping mine.
That or I'm going to pick up a S4 headliner (in black)

Where do you order the suede from?

you can get alcantara (basically same texture as suede) from any fabric store.

Yeah. You can get suede or alcantra from any upholstery shop. I say just order it online and then wrap your headliner. When I go back home for the summer, I'm going to have to do this, cause after seeing the black headliners in the titanium package cars, it made me really jealous.

So if you just have some fabric glue and a heat gun, I should be able to do it and make it look good?

yes, all you need is the glue/spray and need to remove the whole headliner and you can use a heat guy to dry the glue.
the hardest part is dropping down the sunroof panel, because you need to remove the whole sunroof...well at least for the b5 we had too, not too sure on the b7.
I would just suggest, dropping down everything yourself and then just taking to a shop, should not run more than 150...I would assume.

I just saw a black interior of an Acura TL that the headliner was wrapped in black Alacantra, compared to my grey headliner it looked great. There are a lot of little things that would need to be painted or replaced to match the black headliner though. I think it would look great still.

, or, should say, had it done at an auto upholstery shop. If you tried to DIY, you'd want some prof.strength spray adhesive and perhaps some plastic upholstery pulling tools to get the headliner off. Not as simple as it might seem, at least in the TT. Lots of clips you can't see that break off, dome light fixture, etc. Might be wise to take a look at a diagram of the headliner in a Bentley manual or the dealer's parts counter computer to see where the clips are. Might be easier in an A4, dunno. Any car upholstery shop will have sample books of many potential materials. "Real" alcantara is extremely expensive, but there are many similar ripoffs that will work just fine, especially as a headliner.

The part numbers that I posted are for the WHOLE anthracite headliner. If you are doing the Alcantara, obviously, you won't need the fabric pieces. You can use your existing headliner fabric pieces and overlay Alcantara on top.

I have the titanium package so all the trim in the car is black so I would just need to wrap the headliner I am guessing.
