I have the oportunity to do an even trade with another vortex'er. My 96 A4 2.8l Q for his 92 GTi VR6 swap, You think its worth it? It looks like a pretty clean swap , although I haven't driven it yet.... My A4 is in great shape , the paint is still rich and smooth, all stock, but I'd like to have more power, just wanted to get the general opinion of, 'if it were my car...'
thanks

Just my opinion, i would rather keep my audi over a VW anyday(unless it was a R32)

I love A2 bodied golfs. So that would be a tough choice.....

ummm....actually not that tough. I'd trade =D

I agree. You get more power but loose so much more. Hold on to your car and get a 98> 2.8 or 1.8T.

It all depends on what you want. Do you want a reliable daily driver, or something you can go have fun in? I would LOVE to have a Mk2 VR6, but didn't have the time or money to sink into mine. As a result, I sold it several weeks ago.

Of course, I kept my Avant, and it's perfect for me.

Choose which one is better for you. Obviously, most of the people on the internet do not know you very well, if at all.

Later,
Mike

[:)] My two takes on this:

1.
If it's more power you're looking for why not consider the option of trading? If you're used to the A4 interior, ride quality, class, etc. $hit you do think you're going to like a 1992 golf? And yes the VR6 is probably a nice sounding and performing engine, but you an get a slightly newer A4 for a very similar price. I'll bet a 97 1.8T is even cheaper than a 96 2.8. Dealers are pretty dumb so they may give you something like your car + $1000 for a similar A4 cause they love saying "V6!".

2. Now my other OPINION:

WTF are you thinking bro!!!!!!! that golf looks like Ass!

Just helping a brotha out in a time of confusion....[;)]

i'd rather have the audi for the quatro and styling, but the 12v has no power. trade it

yeah , I forgot to mention that I have owned VR's before , and this is one clean arse swap , the only thing is that its got minor door dings and someone fvcked the passenger sidedoor handle area up, but as far as the swap goes , lord have mercy its clean , and fast , has the MK4 HG and GIAC chip for it , ...My a4 is drop dead sexy , but no power...

being a 96 (1st year of the A4) with high mileage Id say its worth trading it. I dont know what you have fixed on it but parts for an A2 VW are dirt cheap compared to an audi. Not to mention its a hell of alot easier to work on. Now if you plan on driving year round in the snow you will definately miss AWD and the refinement of the A4 but if that is not your concern and you want something moddable and definately faster, as well as cheaper to maintain, id say trade it.
