I was at the dealership for a CEL, because my car struggled to start.
It turned out there was a recall on crankcase hose. It was released on 09-02-2008 service board. Service advisor said the recall would most likely fix the issue.
My car is 07 model. Contact your dealership asap if you have a 07 model

the service person tells you when they check your car in for service... like i said in my thread... it's not exactly a safety recall nor is it a catastrophic issue and therefore you may not be notified.

o ok... well the dealership i go to has had a bit of a rep for not really doing any recalls so i might have to point it out to them to get it done

I dont think that people know the difference between a Recall and a Technical Service bulletin.
sorry mate.

Recalls usually/most of the time get sent out in the mail or easily found becuase it has happen to so many people they have fixed the issue. Where a TSB is just an "hey look out of this" kind of thing. if something happens and it is a TSB they will fix it but until it breaks they most likey won't do anything!

Just made service appt for 55000KM svc (I love the "Audi Care Plan"). I asked SA about both crankcase house and PVC and he confirmed that they are recalls, and will also be covered. I may get a different story once I actually bring the car in, so I will keep you guys updated after the svc is performed.

are these recalls for specific years of the B7 model or all B7's?

Probably most of ppl here are going to hate me from now on, but lets see if we can use the right terms here. When there is a recall the company will issue an alert to all users to bring their cars back to the dealer for an urgent repair because there is a safey issue.
For a Technical Service bulletin I found this for all of you: "Technical Service Bulletins, or TSB's, are recommended procedures for repairing vehicles. Not to be confused with recalls, a TSB is issued by a vehicle manufacturer when there are several occurrences of an unanticipated problem. TSB's can range from vehicle-specific to covering entire product lines and break down the specified repair into a step-by-step process. While sometimes written by engineers employed by OEM's, the majority are authored by the first automotive technician to come up with a repair procedure. Because certain problems may have more than one cause or there are sometimes more than one way to fix a problem, it's somewhat common for there to be more than one TSB for the same problem."

Just to add something, all TSB are specific to a batch of vin's and it does not apply to all A4 B7 or whatever the car it is, meaning that it depends on the year that your car was manufactured and the batch of parts that they used on it.
When you call your dealer, they will know if the crankcase is in recall or not by looking at your VIN number. Later B7 models already have a different crankcase and may not be experiencing the same problem with oil comsumption issue that we are.

You can search for TSBs at safercar.gov. Go to http://www.safercar.gov/, drill into 'safety recalls', search on left under service bulletins. Don't see anything related to this post, tho.

TSB fixes are called "recall" on invoices. For example, the imfamous "I3" TSB campaign that reflashes the ECU is called "I3 Recall" on invoices.

I just had this happen to me, CEL came on only 2 days after symptoms, idling rough, high pitch squeeling sound, runs rich. Took it to dealer, replaced it and I am all good now.
