And also for my rear plate LED bulb flickering.

A) Anyone have any ideas that doesn't require me to get the filler front plate with the license plate cut out?

B)What's the license plate blub # so I can order a new 1?

Thanks guys. Haven't been on here in months BTW, new job.

Hmm... is the front plate a fixit ticket, or just a fine? I don't think CA law actually requires the plate to be attacked to a traditional location, so you might be able to get away with just putting it in the windshield to get OK'd, and then put it back away.

I just got my second no license ticket on Sunday. It's fix it with small fine.

Really? I googled this & couldn't find any concrete evidence. You have any? That'd me really simple & a big relief.

I can understand the no front plates (which is required by law in CA) but if you got one for lights flickering from the rear plates, that's just plan ol' bullshit, what's the c.v.c. [code] on that one?

Yeah, he said I need to get my bulbs replaced. I'm sure the flickering light is what caused the unwanted attention anyway.

Wait, does anyone know the law regarding car dealerships in CA? Do they NEED to give you a front license plate bracket? Because the Van Nuys dealership is saying I cannot get one for free. It's $83 f*cking dollars. I thought I remember reading something that it is required for the to supply it.

Meh, I've gotten 3 fines for no front plate so far, but not on my A4 yet.

Me personally, I just pay the fine and keep rocking no front plate. But there are a few options other than the $150 mechanism from Swift posted above...

Switft has a spring loaded plastic frame that hides away ($60) http://www.swiftmotorsports.com/product_info.php?cPath=2049&products_id=3144&osCsid=c0425348cbc4836b29c7c57e9d4907ed

and Podi's skidplate which is all aluminum construction (about $70) http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=215978
Podi's just screws in and out so it only takes a few seconds to put it on or take it off. Up to you!

The dealers MUST install them during the pdi process (pre-delivery inspection)...so if you bought your car from Van Nuys, then they are require to install them for you - for the same reason that DMV will be sending you two plates.

Resistor Install (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=235841) to fix the flicker!!! As for the front plate i would be nice and go to the hearing officer with a picture of your car with the plate and say you were getting work done!

Some cars from the factory don't have license plate brackets like on Jettas....dealers will typically drill holes into your bumper for your license plate. Sux you got those tickets....I've only got one and only one of my cars has a front license. Maybe it's because your car is red it attracts so much attention.

I've been hit for no front plate once, just pay the fine and go back to no front, it's a small fee and it's rare to get a ticket for it unless they really hate you that day haha. Don't worry about getting the bracket, unless you can get it free from the dealership w/o them drilling holes in ur bumper. Just put zip ties through the grille/license plate, go down and show them u have front plate on the car, and when you get home cut them off. Simple fix. I'm sure they've seen worse anyway. And I'm pretty certain the plate in the windshield is still illegal as it has to be clearly visible and legible, which being at a 45 degree angle in your windshield does not accomplish. Of course somebody's going to say I'm wrong because they've been doing that for years, but how many of us have not had a plate on the front whatsoever and been fine for years[;)]

Varies by state, but in WI the front plate has to be mounted "securely" outside of the vehicle. But even so, I wouldn't want a small, sharp piece of aluminum sitting there at neck-level in case I got into a bad accident [o_o]

Did you get the ticket from the CHP or LAPD?

In California the licence plate must be securely mounted. Just slipping it on the dashboard won't cut it. It should be a fix it ticket.

VC5200(a) - License plates; two on a vehicle, one in front and one in the rear.
VC5201 - License plates, securely attached and clearly visible, rear plate 12 to 60 inches high.

I like the honeycomb... but those grills are so expensive! I like the way my oem one looks, and I know that zero people will notice it anyway so I'm not wasting my money.

Unless I do custom interior work, I think I'm done with my car [:)]

Don't get me wrong. I just like my oem grill how it is anyway and don't want to spend that kind of money for something I don't want all that much.

Plus if you want two things equally, and you know one of them will get positive reinforcement from others, you know you would choose the one that others will like too.

It's just a fix it ticket with $15 fine, I've gotta many of those.

Back in the B5 days, I used to zip-tie it to the bumper, get it signed off, and cut it right off

urban you have sline or non?

also, best thing to do, is just zip tie your plate if you plan to remove your plate afterwards.

I don't understand the concept, does one really enjoy getting pulled over and loves to waste valuable time going to the courthouse and pay a fine for nothing?
The front plate don't look all that bad.

Mine have all been from parking on city streets
and I'm helping the government by giving them money

I'll keep my license plate off
and you keep yours on
and everyone will be happy
