I need new tires and am thinking of going 225/50 instead of the stock 205/55.
Since I wont be gettin new rims for awhile Id like to run wider tires. Ill be installing my suspension later this month too.

If you run this size tire, what brand and model are you using and your thoughts on the wider rubber.

Thanks.

I was just a the stealership yesterday and took a peek at thier tire selection. Stock 17's are 255/40Z17

I'm running 225/40W18 on mine. The wide rubber is nice but your car will want to go where ever the road is pointed, not always a good thing. Traction rocks but I have been having a hard time forcing oversteer lately since my tires are almost slicks now. My next set for the 18's will be 245's. I'll be mounting 235's on my Swings for the winter.

Take a look at:
Ventus
Hankook
BF Goodrich
Yokohama

hmm, stock 17's on what car? I'd say maybe the A6 4.2. Otherwise, the B5 A/S4 runs 225/45/17 stock and IIRC, the B6 A4's have 235/45/17 as stock sizing. 255/40/17 would be a really big tire on a B5.

I've got Bridgestone S-03's in 225/50R16's. It's a tight fit, but no rubbing!

I didn't notice any increase in tramlining. Just more grip.
