View Full Version : Another HD splitter...

Last weekend I detailed the car and finished it off with the HD splitter. Looks great from the front but can look a bit off from the side since it follows the downward slope of the S-line bumper. Doesn't hurt to try it on for $25 bucks. [wrench]

I was wondering the same thing about the front diagonal side view since non-sline does the same. Does look sort of 'off' but looks good from the front. [up]

It doesn't look to bad. Seems like a lot of people are doing this mod lately.
Why do you have the exhaust sticking so far out?

auto: definately worth the try but I would take the Cupra over the HD.
sanjman: I'm not quite sure. I was going to buy a FMIC and another set of wheels and now I'm actually thinking of buying an RS4 this winter. I've listed my car for sale and we'll see what happens.
emaxx: That's where the Abt exhaust sits. I would've liked it inward about another half inch but if I had pushed it in further it would be rubbing with the frame.

You know what, that looks pretty good. I know I was hating on the pics from the post on the miata boards, but that guy's work looked REALLY bad... yours looks clean. Best part about this -- you bottom out, your $25 splitter gets ripped up, though the bumper is fine. Spend another $25 and you're good to go!

So give us some info about your rs4 endeavors- I'm very curious!!! Since you went from being mad you didn't get an s4 (or kinda regretting I guess) to happy because of the modding and gas mileage to wanting that wonderful v8. Do tell...

Ales: BBS RC - 18 x 8.5, ET32, 18.5lbs.
nsmith: When I was shopping around, I looked at S4s and chose a 2.0T over an S4. I've been very happy with my decision and it proved to be the right one for me, mainly because I knew the value of S4s would drop like a rock which they have (S4s were sitting and sellers were motivated when I was looking where as I kept missing out on S-line A4s. Now you can buy an S4 for almost the same $$$ as an A4 S-line of the same year because there is little demand for gas guzzlers and very high demand for fuel efficient cars. Me thinking about selling the A4 now and buying an RS4 has to do with my circumstances. I don't really need a car for the next few months as I live one mile away from my office and need to loose 15lbs. At the same time, used RS4s are now in the low $50k range and I figure they'll be mid $40s by Jan/Feb at the rate they've been depreciating. I'm thinking I sell the A4 now, walk to work for a few months, burn some lbs. and pick up an RS4 in the new year as the depreciation curve starts to level off. This is just an idea and if I don't get my price, I'm happy to keep the A4.

A4 S-line: HD = Home Depot. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=227310&highlight=home+depot
Bryan: yeah, it looks exactly like that. I bought it at the Terminal store...there's only one brand so you can't miss it.

They look very similar but no, they're BBS RCs. The VW ones weigh ~25bls...mine weigh 18.5lbs.
UPDATE ON THE SPLITTER:
After having the HD splitter for about a month, I've taken it off and decided to go for the Cupra lip instead. The heavy duty double-sided tape I used was starting to peel back and I don't like the way it looks from the side because it follows the line of the bumper which slopes down toward the back whereas the curpa lip tapers and flattens out the profile of the front bumper. It was a good try but to anyone thinking of doing this, I recommend you spend the extra $75 and do it right.

Sorry, but I think the HD splitter should be on garage doors, not on A4s.

agkellyboy: They're very hard to come by but keep an eye on eBay. I bought them used from another AZer.

I agree. I tried it for $25, looks okay but ended up taking it off and will be going with Cupra instead. Gotta read before you post Rook. [:)]

Hey wait a minute - I read the thread, and saw you were taking it off in favor of the Cupra. I was saying that I dont like HD splitter in general. In other words, I'm glad you took it off. haha
I may be a rook, but I play by the rules in the threads. [>_<]

Good. I don't see why so many quite a few people have been doing it. [up]
