alright so i want to put a complete exhaust on my car. but i drive a fwd 2.0t tip. and i've checked awe and apr sites like that but no one seems to sell it for the fwd tiptronic its ether. so i've been looking at e-codes test piping. i was planning on buying that and then probably the awe exhaust. now i don't want to sound like a retard but the test piping says its for off road use only. is it still ok to use it on the streets? and also cant decide on which exhaust to go with? can i get your opinions?[confused]

Test pipes delete your catalytic converter, making it illegal for street use. You will not be able to pass an emmissions test with a test pipe on your car. It's kind of like a tint law, people break it, but be prepared to be pulled over. Furthermore, it will make your exhaust note a little more raspy (watch videos on youtube) and your exhaust won't smell too great. You'll also be polluting the environment and Planet Green will be mad.

alright that makes sense. is there any alternatives i can do that will still give me a tiny gain and keep the car legal?

You can get a high flow cat but I'm not sure if anyone makes one for the fwd tip. Plus they are usually very expensive. I've heard of some people just using the stock downpipe coupled with the rest of the exhaust system. I do not know too much about this but I would assume that you wouldn't have the same flow through the exhaust because your downpipe is going to be a smaller diameter than what the exhaust kit intended. Perhaps someone else can chime in about doing this? I do not think it would be bad for your car, but you probably wouldn't get the same gains as using the full system. Maybe 5-10hp less?

These are the most recent pictures I have taken by a4 effort. I've been meaning to do a little photoshoot but haven't gotten around to it. Props to TooLow2.0T for letting me steal some of his ideas. I still need to black out my headlights and get the quad tip exhaust installed once it gets shipped to me.

Stasis has weird resonance at low rpms (2-3k) when the car is loaded. It is annoying during longer trips.

Dont reccomend the test pipes, I plan to do an overhaul on my entire exhaust though. Test pipes cause more pain than pleasure.

I find that only when I'm going up a hill in 6th gear at like 80..and even then, its not bad.

Why do you say this? With my test pipe, I barely notice the smell at all and that seems to be the biggest thing people complain about. A rotton egg smell that has no way of getting into the car, but you can smell it a little in your garage or maybe a stop light with the windows down... I don't notice it at all.

The only thing I don't like about my test pipe is the "fart" noise that is extremely noticeable whenever the wastegate opens. Again, big deal... what do you expect when you buy a turbo car with an internal wastegate.
