This isn't the most important thing for everyone else but I drove an MT6 S5 again yesterday (only the second time ever) and I'm certain that is what I want over the 335i and quite possibly the M3.

The beauty, brawn and class of the S5 is impossible to beat. In lieu of a DSG option, the MT6 was the right choice over the standard slushbox and I couldn't be happier! The icing on the cake is my pending European Delivery option!

My car should be one of the first US-spec A/S5s with the Audi Drive Select package and thus I will report its value when I get to test it on the Autobahn. I missed the 2-day B8 A4 driving event that I signed up for at Infineon Raceway (was out of town that day) but I heard that ADS on the 3.2 A4 created an entirely different car. I'm excited to say the least as I feel the S5 in stock form is a bit soft for my tastes.

I can't wait! This is a car I think I'll keep forever... or until they offer an RS5. [cool]

Congrat on the new car! Do you have an est arrival date yet?

I just visit your blog. At 23 and you have gotten that far, I'm very impressed. I just turned 21 3 months ago and hope that by the time i get to 23, i would be somewhere close to you now.

Congrats. I've said that about every car I've ever owned. It has never panned out though.

This is a car I think I'll keep (it) forever...

Thanks everyone. It was a tough decision as I really do think the 335i is quite the bang for your buck and the upgrade options for the TT I-6 are quite impressive. But alas... the beauty of the S5 (and decently good handling) wins. I'm German all the way so at least I didn't have to worry about that part!

Thank you, I've worked hard and it doesn't look like I'll be taking a break anytime soon.

No estimated date yet. The best they can give me is October-November. I'm thinking it will be more like September-October but we'll see. I should know in the next couple of weeks.

As for color I am going Meteor Grey on Tuscan Brown with Carbon Fiber trim. I am still thinking I might like the traditional Metallic Silver but I LOVE grey cars. The interior color is not changing though... brown is sexy (where else would you say that... no idea!?)

Can't wait!

Metallic Silver is not a good color at all for this car. You can't go wrong with Grey, Black or White on this car! I saw a black and a Grey ones already. They look stunning. I also saw a blueish one which made those curvy lines along the car look hideous which did a great job SUPPRESSING the car's beauty rather than showing it out.

What makes you think the car would show up sooner than they say is will? [>_<]

did they have one going into production or did you do a standard order? if you did a standard order don't expect the car for 6-8 months...sorry if i am the bearer of bad news.

Nice purchase, the S5 is definitely a gorgeous vehicle in my book [up] When it's time for me to upgrade I'm leaning more towards the S5 vs. RS4 . . .

Because they said it might go into production a bit early. I will also get it a bit early because I don't have to wait the 30 days for it to travel by boat to the US. At least not initially! [;)]

It is a standard order. I placed the order three months ago so the end of October would be the 6 months I was originally quoted. [:p]

I do agree with you. I'm not really a black car fan (and not because it gets dirty as I wash twice a week and live in California) but because it has never hit me right. The only black car I would buy would be an Escalade with loads of chrome.

I like blue if it is a "sprint blue" color but other than that I'm not a fan. The Ocean Blue Pearl of my A4 has grown on me but wouldn't look too good on an S5. I love silver but think I'll be sticking with my Meteor Grey color. It is just stealth enough to go somewhat unnoticed but when hit right can outshine anyone!

Woohoo!

Wha, wha, what?! The M3 was one of your options and you chose the S5? Albeit, the S5 is a very nice car; I love it. I'm not trying to hate on Audi either as I love mine. But I am also a BMW fan and was fortunate enough to drive an e92 M3 and was reluctant to leave it at the dealership after my fifteen minutes in the driver's seat. Did you test drive it?

hey dude, not to be an ass but in your case, you only was able to test drive the M3. My best friend has a M3 and I got to drive it like my own car hahahaha and if it's time for me to switch, I would stick with the S5. The only M I will take any day, any time is the M5.

I did drive the M3, I am a BMW guy as well but the S5 is much more of a DD which this will be most of the time for me. The M3 is a track car and I think it looks funny driving something like that on the street. It is just a bit too rough for me to enjoy every day. Otherwise I would have been all over it. It is a perfectly balanced car with amazing driving characteristics, no doubt.

I would agree with you here. I would drive the M5 any day because the practicality and slightly, granted not much more so, ride is a bit more manageable than the M3. The M5 is still not a daily driver as my buddy who recently traded his 2007 RS4 for a 2008 M5 is finding out.

I want something I can comfortably tour around in... more of a GT car with amazing class and style rather than a track monster. I'll get myself an EVO with $10k in modifications if I want a track monster.

I'm not exactly sure what you were trying to convey in your statement, but it was me and my girl who took the car out; no salesperson. By the way, I'm 20. Most people would say that doesn't matter, but I think it does. Most 20 year olds can't walk into Southpointe BMW of Sarasota and just take an M3 out. I did. I hammered on it too.

I really hate it when people "brag" about their friends, whether it be their possessions, their accomplishments, or what have you. My brother does that, and he's a real douschebag. Some people are so boring and unimpressed by their own lives that they need to live vicariously through friends. What's worse, through their material possessions. I have friends that drive nice cars too. That's them, not me. Much nicer cars than the M3; one even has a V8 Vantage.

As for the M5, it's sweet. Both cars can be had as sedans, and both cars are fast. It all comes down to personal preference: "do you want a fast 3 or a fast 5?"

I do not like it when people brag about other's possessions either. I am 23 myself and have been owning and driving nice cars since I was old enough to hold the title.

I agree the M3 is a splendid car, just not a DD in my opinion (and another $7k with options over the S5). The M5 is so much sex that I would drive it daily even if I needed a full time chiropractor to save my back! Not to mention I just can't justify a $90k car for my lifestyle at this point, as much as I would want to. If I had that money for a car I would have a new M5 on EU order.

Thanks, I'm loving the color combo and have always wanted brown leather interior. If my 2001 740i Sport had brown leather interior with grey exterior I would still have it. Albeit the silver with black leather combo and shadowline trim was might sexy too. [drive]

Dude, I just turned 21 roughly 4 months ago. Test drive any cars for me is just a piece of cake because normally I just walk in, tell them directly that I want to test drive that blah blah blah (including all Audi - except S5 because it's so rare and all BMW - except the 3 sedan which I hate the rear look to death) and they hand me the keys. The only time that I really had a hard time was trying to test drive the GT2 and the S5 that someone was going to pick up the next day.

M3 is a very nice car, however, as a daily drive, I would never recommend it. It's just too much of a sport car. M5 on the other hand, I think I can live with. At least, it does lean a bit more over the category of "luxury sedan".

A5/S5 is a very nice car for daily driving. I think one magazine rated as one of the best luxury cruiser if I'm correct here.

Anyways, my points is that your reaction total his purchase of the S5 was pretty unenthusiastic. I have seen tons of these craps. ohhh why buying that car when you can get this car for the same amount ... blah blah

No way man. The S5 is sex. Did they actually let you drive the GT2?

The S5 is sex. I just need to figure out what exhaust it needs. The stock setup is FAR too quiet for that 4.2L beast.

The best car I've ever driven is an F430 F1 Spyder. I would sell my soul for that car.

The S5 is IMO, the nicest car on the road right now. For a daily driver...cant beat the S5.

Congrats on that purchase. I'm 20 right now and I've added a lot of things to my b7 a4 and when I graduate from school I'd like to pick up the s5 as well. I also second the DD comment as compared to the m3/m5. The s5 is quick enough even though its heavy and with quattro and a top quality interior you can't beat it as far as taking that thing to work and such everyday. And then you can even open it up a little bit on the weekends/open roads. Everytime I see a thread that someone ordered a new one I keep wanting to get one more and more.

Can't wait to hear your stories about ADS either, plus we need pics as usual!

And my brother has a new g35 coupe that is very nice but when he saw the s5 earlier today he said that is "unbelievable". (And no I'm not trying to say my brother has nice things, just proving that an owner with a very nice coupe thinks the s5 outclasses his car by a ton)
