Mocking up my new billet aluminum fuel rails I had made a year ago, still need to have the mounting tabs welded on, but really happy that the stock/RS4 y pipe fits with plenty of room... Still waiting on my turbos if they where here 2 weeks ago this think would of been in the car already probably running haha... http://img380.imageshack.us/img380/6083/s4customfuelrails001lx1.th.jpg (http://img380.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s4customfuelrails001lx1.jpg)http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/2307/s4customfuelrails006zk2.th.jpg (http://img98.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s4customfuelrails006zk2.jpg)http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/1893/s4fuelrail001mj0.th.jpg (http://img387.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s4fuelrail001mj0.jpg)http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/9619/s4fuelrail006pr2.th.jpg (http://img501.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s4fuelrail006pr2.jpg)http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/8110/s4customfuelrails003ys5.th.jpg (http://img258.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s4customfuelrails003ys5.jpg)http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/5307/enginepics005zo8.th.jpg (http://img297.imageshack.us/my.php?image=enginepics005zo8.jpg)http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/3636/motorpicswithgt2560ss00ag4.th.jpg (http://img374.imageshack.us/my.php?image=motorpicswithgt2560ss00ag4.jpg)http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/4391/motorpicswithgt2560ss00ze2.th.jpg (http://img505.imageshack.us/my.php?image=motorpicswithgt2560ss00ze2.jpg)http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/2223/motorpicswithgt2560ss00lx6.th.jpg (http://img505.imageshack.us/my.php?image=motorpicswithgt2560ss00lx6.jpg)http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/3796/motorpicswithgt2560ss00xl2.th.jpg (http://img158.imageshack.us/my.php?image=motorpicswithgt2560ss00xl2.jpg)http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/5241/aug11gtpicsc[IMG]http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/2074/aug11gtpicscoated001jf4.th.jpg (http://img291.imageshack.us/my.php?image=aug11gtpicscoated001qy5.jpg)http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/6290/aug11gtpicscoated004aw4.th.jpg (http://img146.imageshack.us/my.php?image=aug11gtpicscoated004aw4.jpg)http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/5648/aug11gtpicscoated001qf1.th.jpg (http://img297.imageshack.us/my.php?image=aug11gtpicscoated001qf1.jpg)http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/1250/fuelrails003qj9.th.jpg (http://img392.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fuelrails003qj9.jpg)http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/3076/fuelrails006hv9.th.jpg (http://img177.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fuelrails006hv9.jpg)Just got most of the stuff from the coaters today just waiting next week for the turbine housings to be done

generationjdm

I'm not building a monster by any means all stock 2.7 components except rods, I'm really building the car as a regular driver. The car will be running the GT2560ss and will most likely have a cat on the car still.. I just like things done a certain way, probably a bit over kill, but looks nice...

Thanks a lot, I've always went a little to far on all my builds.. I really like the small detail of things.. I'm really not looking for a monster just hopefully a really efficient car at the end of the day... If I had more time and all the parts the thing should of been done already, but i keep hitting road blocks like waiting for motor mounts for 4 weeks...

mistert396
08-11-2008, 07:12 PM
Nothing wrong with going to far. Attention to detail will definately pay off in the longrun. I hope that everything ends up just how you want it. Lord knows with an effort like that it is much deserved. Ahhh how much I hate being ready to be done with things and I'm still waiting on certain parts. Good luck with everything!

Good luck and keep up the good workThe tools are there to go how fast anyone wishes, but like i said im not going for shear speed as i only have gt25ss going on my car... The motor looks fancy and looks much faster then it will be as I'm also using all the stock 2.7 stuff on my motor no rs4 stuff... so really I have a gt 25 setup with rods and some fancy fuel rails haha... You should make y-pipes that are like the diameter of the RS4. And they would match those pretty inlet pipes.

What are you doing for IC's?

generationjdm
09-05-2008, 09:40 PM
I will be working on a y pipe one day soon, i might be making my own coolers.. The outlets of the rs4ss are the same size i believe as the stocker, if so then the rs4s are really no better then the stock ones

Gill, First i wish to say welcome to AZ and for opening an AZ account just on my behalf. [;)]

Heres what I wrote word for word.

If both cars where running perfect and at there max the rs6 car is completely out matched do to the larger GT turbos and more efficient setup/turbos..

"As i stated before im not building a race car and if i wished to go fast or just as fast as anyone else i could of and would of, but i have no desire as the audi isnt a race car"... i hope this answers all your questions and if you have more just have one of those guys give me a call haha

Gill, Really cant c where i said my car was going to out run your car or where anyone said your car, hold on let me check again NOPE still didn't see where i said that...

Your certainly not saying a maxed out rs6 setup verse a maxed out gt2560 setup will make more power are you and im really not speaking on r 2 cars, because that was my comparison?

Last I checked i had basically a bone stock 2.7 with just rods with a full cheap ss auto chrome exhaust, 2 mufflers and never launched the S4 once and came from a stock k03 car, plus my car will be setup for pump gas.

You have a fully built 2.8 liter no exhaust, meth, race gas and other goodies plus hours upon hours of tuning driving/experience with your car etc, and my car hasn't even been started or tuned yet.

Didn't no I was in a competition, Next time theres a competition please someone let me no before I have the car almost finished so I can build a proper car haha O ya tell Prince i said HI[>_<] I need to let Mike take it for a pass or 2 this spring for me haha

Gil@VAST
I cannot wait to see this damn thing run......what a great looking build[/QUOTE If you where referring to my build and not Guru's who posted his pic above, Don't expect the fastest s4 out there because it most likely will never be, as I really was looking to build just a sold setup using the gt25ss

I like that you took your time and pulled the engine out and thought about instead of just slapping on turbos and bolting on the rest and calling it a day. It's better IMHO to have a reliable daily driver that looks like a sleeper than a moody high performance vehicle....

My life is a lot easier, the 034 injection started on it's firts try an the car is very driveable off boost on the base tune. Whe just couldnt believe how easy it was...

I dont run any audi ecu nomore and I have a fully functionnal S4 cluster[:|]

I wish I had CLOSE to the welding skills you have. That set up is what I'm looking to do, just with probably a LOT crappier manifolds.

You're not going to stick with the stock SMIC's are you?

Sweet build....

I'd love to see somebody fab a sheetmetal intake manifold with an a/w core built in. That would be the ultimate in tidy packaging for this car anyways.

I hate a/w IC's on the street though for the most part- i have never seen one really outperform a good a/a setup in ACTUAL street use, but the s4 is such a plumbing nightmare it's almost justifiable, and they ARE killer at the strip. Pack them up with ice and.... :)

I thought of every possibility and still a water to air is the best for this car because of the plumbing nightmare. I don't no what im going to do though I still might build a front mount with meth for the car instead of the water.. I've had water to air coolers in the past that cooled to the point a front mount could never, you have to run a large heat exchanger in the front of the car to achieve this.. I might be doing a sheet medal intake for next summer

some nice heat exchangers where the SMIC's go would be super stealth. I would love to see this kind of construction.

Haven't touch the car since i put the motor in 4 weeks ago, i left the suspension and front end parts off just in case i run into leaks or troubles.

Well they came today when i primed the car and started the car for less then 2 seconds. notice a heavy amount of oil coming from the passenger side of the car.

Since i was alone i cranked the motor again for less then 2 seconds a total of 4 times. Heres the part that makes me worry a tad, once i shut the motor down i here a loud squealing noise coming from the top of the inlet pipe on the pass side, i dont have the Y PIPE hooked up so its loud.. The sound goes away in 2-3 seconds so i think its from the turbo whining down, but sounds like a squealing brake...

Heres where the leak was, the passenger side oil adapter on the back side of the block under the intake manifold, it was a defected copper crushed washer that cracked on the banjo bolt. So im hoping that the turbo didn't starve on that side for the brief total of 6-8 seconds of total run time not more then 2 seconds at a time.

So im hoping once the crushed washer is replaced the turbo will quite down once it gets re oiled.

After speaking with a few people including Ruben today I feel like it will be fine.. The car never seen any boost nor did the car ever really see any rpms at all, just a quick fire and shut down. Ruben knew the sound I was talking about and said once primed again it will be fine....

Well after basically finishing the car all but the suspension i cranked the car over and let it idle for about 10 seconds multiple times and on each an every shut down the pass side turbo is squealing so loud that im almost certain it's defective. When the cars running no noise but 2-3 seconds after it's shut off the loudest squealing noise comes out.. Makes zero sense to me but a bad pass side turbo, so i guess the nightmare starts and she sits for a while.

Can't you pinpoint the sound by going closer to that turbo. You should really be able to hear it from there. Gotta get dirty, get under that car.

Can't you pinpoint the sound by going closer to that turbo. You should really be able to hear it from there. Gotta get dirty, get under that car.I can hear it really clear as it's about 120 decibels loud, only after the car is shut down and then 2-3 seconds later this sound comes out, which i believe is the turbo spooling down and being starved for oil. Makes sense to me, while the car is running it maybe getting enough oil, but once shut down something isn't right clearly... I think i got a bad/defective turbo... Did you hear that horrible sound?

Das General
10-25-2008, 12:02 PM
Yes I heard the sound, but I am curious as to why the turbo would be defective at some point and not when it is running..

Yes I heard the sound, but I am curious as to why the turbo would be defective at some point and not when it is running..Im scratching my head trust me. I think when it's running the turbo might be forced to get enough oil, but once the motors off after a few sec the noise comes out as if the turbo has no oil in it... Why not the other side as they both pick oil up from the same place...

The residual oil that didnt drain out after the shutdown should be more than enough to lubricate the turbo while it spins down. Thats weird man, i dont really know what to tell you. Good luck on getting it figured out.

Good luck on getting it figured out.Thats what has me scratching my head wondering why, the bb turbos only need a few drops of oil... Maybe just a defective turbo from the start. If it was the Turbo it would squeel longer than that.

generationjdm
10-25-2008, 12:56 PM
If it was the Turbo it would squeel longer than that.longer then what, the car is shut off when that noise occurs, the turbos only spool down on shut off for roughly 8-10 seconds and that sound last 8 sec. Theres only 2 things that i can think of that still runs/spins after the cars shut down 1 being the auxiliary water pump and 2 being the turbos, the sound comes from the pass inlet pipe or near it...

Das General
10-25-2008, 02:31 PM

weird sound just unlpug the pump then see what happens

generationjdm
10-25-2008, 03:24 PM
It's the after run pump, i unhooked the connector and the sound is gone.. I cant believe how loud that ****** is.. Im wondering if it's complete ly bad or just needs to have coolant running through it, maybe it's just air in the system and no coolant is in the pump yet

lowered97a4
10-25-2008, 03:30 PM
ya air in the system will make it loud once the system is has been bleeded it should go away unless its just bad good to hear its not the turbos

AMC
10-25-2008, 03:35 PM
yay its not the turbo. fix it, tune it, run the shit out of it, post it

sCeRaXn
10-25-2008, 04:23 PM
Congrats man. Now follow AMC's instructions and all will be good lol

BTW-I flushed my coolant system a few months ago, and when i first cranked it up to bleed it it would squeel loud as fuck for a few seconds then it would go away. It stopped doing it after i bled the system, so ill bet it was the after run pump. If thats the case then you should be good to go once you bleed the system.

egt is on the manifolds, i had a busted/cracked heater core hose at the connection which is near impossible to change while the motor is in the car.. I had audi send me 2 wrong parts now so hopefully they send the right one this time.. I'm in no hurry as usually plus winter is here basically.. I also been dragging my feet as bow season started 37 days ago and that now has all my time haha sorry... i will have it fixed soon

Its 25 degrees here with some light snow on the ground so I'm taking it very slow. I did just fix the heater core line and shes running but not button up yet, front end fuel pump suspension gauges and some light wiring of the fan is left to do.. Keep in mind the motor is really stock but rods and im not looking to push the car really hard. Should still be tons of power on low boost..
