Has anyone ever had custom programming done on their A4 TQ?

I am about to install a K04 on my A4 and have found that there are no tuners that support the 132kw A4 that was released in Australia and Japan.

I have been told that another guy with the same car had a K04 installed with a custom program and managed to get about 260hp with a front mount, bigger injectors and 3" exhaust.

What are your thoughts about me getting custom programming???

260hp?!?!?!

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ok.

>insert sarcastic laugh<

Did he count up his mods.

Chip = X hp
Exhaust = X hp
K04 = X hp
That = X hp.

no, Dyno papers to prove it.

The 132kw motor is different to the 110Kw and 120Kw motors you guys got. engine code is AJL
It was released in Australia and Japan only.

Its not the motor, its which K04 did he use. To get 260 hp out of a K04-15 you will have to run it at 30psi. The other thing is you want to look at his whp not what he claimed for crank hp since that is pretty much a guessing game.

The car this is in has had quiet a bit of work done to it. Don't know the details f all the work.

I'm aiming for about 240Hp @ the fly and approx 260-280lbft

Has anyone had custom programming done or bought a turner's chip, i.e. APR GIAC etc.

Is there a reason why people don't use custom programming???

wouldn't this be better so when you add a FMIC, bigger injectors etc the program can be updated on a dyno???

tons of K04 owners run GIACs software. People don't use custom tuning simply because of time/cost issues. Sure you could squeeze out a few extra HP if you had your software mapped out for the specific mods on your car. but dyno time = $$$ and custom tuning for a tiny turbo like the k04 just isn't worth it

The reason I ask is that there are no tuners that offer a chip for my car with a K04.

Read above about my motor.

I have a guy that for $1400Au he will dyno tune my car.

He has done it before. I was recommended by an Oettinger mechanic.

It will take 2 days andcomes with 12 months warrenty

Thats a lot of green for tunning. Just slap a stand alone in there and do the tunning yourself.

actually that's not too bad a price. If he pieced together his own K04 kit, (sans software) then hopefully he only spent around $900us, and with $1000us in custom tuning, he will basically only be paying a few hundred more than we do for a kit with univeral software.

I was under the impression that the tunning alone was 1400. Are you sure he meant $1400 including the hardware?

$1400AU (Australian dollars) = $1001 US dollars

so the tuning would be $1000 and a K04 + injectors (or FPR) shouldn't be much more than $800-$900.

All in Australian dollars
Turbo cost me $1600 (shipped from ECS including customs)
Tuning will cost me $1400 (Drive in drive out)
FPR= $200

Comes to about $2200 US dollars

GIAC Sells the kit for $4000au

GIAC= $1400
Dalhback =$2000
APR=$2200

I think we get a raw deal here in Australia.

is there anything wrong with custom?
will the car not work properly because that's the impression i've been getting from other tuners and Audi owners
