That the new elf oil right?

John@PureMS
07-18-2008, 12:14 PM
Yeah, that's Elf's parent company, and as we're no longer able to get the Elf brand, we just carry the main company name now. It does still carry the same ratings though, so in every way we can find, aside from name and bottle shape, it's the same

5 quarts huh? My car has never taken more than 4.0... Large filter and with car tilted to the side to let ALL oil drain... Usually let it drain about 30 minutes too!

it is better to have too much than not enough... I usually put in 4 quarts too but what if your car burn oil? then you have some extra to pour in. Its weird though, my car doesn't burn any oil at all...

I just bought this kit... The guys at PureMS are top notch...

quarts? 5 liters! but yeah, My original specs sheet was listing 4 liters of oil, but after talking with Mike, between the big oil filter, and the possibility of burning oil, we decided it was a better idea to just do 5 liters, and not worry about it. I don't often hear about people complaining about the bottle of oil they keep in the trunk to top off their oil level.

5 liters is what my technical specifications calls for, which is just over 5 quarts. Are you using more than that? I'm more than open to suggestions and corrections if needed

Do you make one for a Hemi!? LOL! I am tired of changing 7 quarts every 4k miles... Especially with synthetic...

Be glad you don't have the b6/b7 4.2 S4, you'd be looking at 10.7 Liters every oil change

I thought my SHO with a bigger filter was bad enough at 6.5Q

those look like mahle filters, am I correct in assuming that?

Mike@PureMS

We utilize Mahle and Mann filters for the 1.8T and 2.8L motors. We'll interchange between the two depending on availability.

The old beetle? Man that is amazing how an air cooled engine only takes 2.4 Liters of oil.

This oil is really good so you guys should jump on this...[wrench]

Do you make one for a Hemi!? LOL! I am tired of changing 7 quarts every 4k miles... Especially with synthetic...

Change the synthetic every 10k. Worked on my 299,900 mile Jetta autocross car and it still got better mileage than when new and didn't burn any oil. 4k is waaaay too short with synthetic. You can really just change the filter every 10k and do a full change every 15-20k but the oil company's mass marketing efforts for 3k changes make people nervous.

I've got that very same oil in my car right now except I get it in the one big jug. That makes it easier to take the oil back for recycling. Can you guys get the big jugs?

911 turbos are up in the 12-16 quart range. Expensive oil changes on those suckers.

takes about 6 1/4 L on the 30v 2.8

X2, The 2.8 30v valve needs to come with 7 L in order for it to be enough. 5 won't do it.

Hmmm honestly I don't think this is a deal for me. I get the same 5 liters oil for $31-$32 plus the filter another $10 that's $42 max. When I add the shipping to your "Special offer" It comes to $50.[:(] Thanks lol
