will an AEB coded ECU 557n fit a car that originally had an ECU coded for AEB with code 557p???

If the plugs are compatible, then yes, they'll be interchangeable.

Audi tend to put tags on plugs, to prevent mistaken connectivity between incompatible units.

Yes. But you might have to change the soft code if the options are different from the donor car.

how do you change the Soft code? i got a pc-16 file with a ecu that says 577N and mine is a 577P. I havent installed it yet but i dont want any downtime while i figure out if it will work.

How would you know if the soft code has to be reset?

You need a Vag-com. Go to www.ross-tech.com you find the directions there. FYI you only need to change the soft codes if car had different options. Frontrak or Quattro Auto or 5 speed ...ETC.

ok, the guy who had it before me had the same car as me ( manual, quattro, 1.8t AEB, etc. etc.) so i think i should be fine then, thanks for the fast response

Yep you don't need anything if your options were the same.
