Car looked very good under normal light. But once upon inspection there's lots of deep scratches caused by a rough snow brush mostly. The client has sent the car for detailing but skipped a year. I have a feeling that the previous detailers were just putting a glaze to make it look good.

These scratches were wet sanded first with a 2000 grit sanding paper. You can note a reduction of orange peel where the wheel reflection is. [;)]

This is actually a mystery. The fuel door had some fume on it, so my first though is that the car was repainted on some areas. There was also some parts where you can feel roughness of a bad masking tape prep before painting. However the client bought the car brand spank new from the dealer and was never told the car was repainted. You can imagine how bad she felt.

Seeing black cars after a detail always makes me wish I bought a black car![up]

^^^ I know exactly what you mean. But funny is that the ones with black cars wished they had a silver one.

That's why I have a blue car :)

HA! Yep, I have silver! The grass is always greener! I like how my car doesn't show imperfections, but it also doesn't show off a detail like a black car! [:)]

my mom had that on her Oldsmobile, she bought it new and it was never repainted, but when going to trade it in, the appraiser pointed out that the rear corner had been repainted. After arguing with the appraiser we took it to a trusted family friend and he confirmed that area had most likely been repainted, probably by the dealer before sale.

^^^ It's actually very common.

Accidents happen before delivery, during transportation. In the case of this jetta, there's actually a bump in the quarter panel. I pointed out to the client that the area is filled with some clear reaction (bubbles), she was aware but never thought it was the clear having the issue.

I had the same problems with my A4. There's a part where the clear is not uniform. Dealer said that someone must have scratch the car.... after a closer look and taking classes in body shop, it's clearly marks of masking tape. Anyways, the A4 is running great and has been reliable with me so I'm keeping it for now. =)
