Adam I am honestly shocked that you are not on the cover of European car or something...

My thoughts exactly. In all the issues I´ve read over the last two years, Eurotuner has seemed to cator more to the VW guys than the Audi crowd,....but i don´t necessarily complain much. But this car NEEDS to had its own feature story......Your car has become an absolute masterpiece man. One of the best modified cars I´ve seen, period...not just for a B5. You´ve got some seriously great taste and individuality........and not to mention a KILLER bankroll to fund a gem like this [hail]

As AudiRacer said...the seats are Recaro Sport Toplines with a full custom re-wrap.

Don't get me wrong...a tVR6 A4 is great (torque!!)....but just not as much of an accomplishment as ringing that type of power out of a much smaller displacement motor.

Thank you for the kind words. The A4 has moved up in the ranks from "beater" to "project car"....although it still gets driven just about every day. I didn't think the term "beater" was very becoming of a car of the A4's stature.

LOL. There is no bad blood between the 2 of us. I would just like to see his built car run down the track seeing that he has spent a pretty big amount of money under the hood. I mean its been how long and we still haven't seen a dyno sheet, so a trap speed would give us all an idea of what type of power his car really makes. But its ok I understand, if the car runs badly on the track or dyno at waterfest it might make the shops that built and tuned the car look bad in front of a very big Audi/VW crowd so they really have nothing to gain by running it on the track or dyno during the event.

True. While this is not really my motivation for not running....its still a very valid point. While I am curious what kind of power its putting down (we will dyno it at some point) its just not that important to me at this particular juncture. I know its fast, my friends know its fast, the guy in the R8 and Roush mustang know its fast....thats all I need. (for now)

LOL, please not with the street racing kills again. As we all know not everyone on the street can race or is racing, this is why street kills are pretty pointless.

While I dont totally agree...I understand your point. BTW...no one said anything about street racing.

I could totally understand if I made some outrageous claim like "This car will run 10's when finished". But the simple fact is than even if it ran a 14....it wouldnt matter to me.
I think for some people on here....dyno numbers and 1/4 miles times are all they have....which is kinda sad. [=(]

I can understand the direction taken here... I bought my car with all it's add-ons, completely understanding its lineage and how well it can take what I throw at it.. and I have talked with friends about it all also... I have a ton of friends asking me to track it and some day I want to.. but they seem hung up on that alone... as though nothing else interests them and they joke about the car being just another VW then, cool for them, but not my game.

Enjoy the ride, keep building her up.. 1/4 mile it or track it one day if you want, but I know I picked up my 'mistress' for all kinds of reasons - none of which are to satisfy someone else's curiosity.[cool]

Actually his car is used by a shop to show off their work, why do you think its always in the booth at Waterfest? But its hard to sell it if no one can see what it does where actual #'s are produced.

You couldn't be more incorrect. First off...saying that "its always in the booth at Waterfest" just shows how uninformed you really are. It was in their booth for 1 day...at last years Waterfest. You have a very skewed idea of what is really going on here. I paid Sleepers to build an engine/turbo kit for me. During this process i found that they are BY FAR the best shop I have ever dealt with. Because of this, I offered the car to be in their booth last year for a day....just so they could answer any questions regarding the intricacies of the build. No one is selling anything. Sleepers makes serious 1-off induction systems...not mass-produced crap that other people shill-out.

You build it up not only aesthetically wise but power wise, and claim how you got this BAT and that clamp and this intake manifold, etc. Why not run it to see what it's got?

thanks for your contribution.
if you can hint at one single ounce of jealousy from that post let me know.
i could care less about anybody's car on here. however i don't because i love these cars and people's efforts to make them beautiful and functional.
many b5 owners moved on to b6 or b7 or bmws, and seeing a great looking and functional b5 once in a while certainly adds some stiffness in my pants.
i make enough money and willingness to splurge on my a4 and make it just like Adam's. however, i am happy with it exactly where it's at.

Please don't make the assumption than because Sleepers made all the major fabrication contributions that I had no hand in the car. I have installed 4 different turbos in my A4 (in my f*cking driveway) and have spend HUNDREDS of bloody hand hours working on every aspect of it...from bodywork, to engine, stereo, and suspension. No because I am not a "engine builder" or a "tuner". Its not that I couldn't do the work, I just wouldn't feel safe pushing it like I do. This is why I let the shops do the new work that I want done, but between those times I do wrench on my own car.

Why would I need to tune my own car? I got free custom tuning from GIAC for 5 years before jumping to a 034 stand alone.[:D]

BTW my car was fully tuned to what it makes now in less then 8 hrs after the engine was put back in the car. Can you say that about Adams car?[;)]

Thought about it....for about 1 second...then came to my senses. The work involved (stitching) would be crazy and, IMO, the dash will never go back together as tightly as it was prior to the dismantling. I HATE rattles!! [headbang]

[start leather dash rant]

yea i didnt worrt about the dash as id make sure to put it back together right, i have no problem taking it apart again to fix a rattle lol... the part i worried about is this, a) shrinkage over time and b) the fading

i work on alot of cars with leather dashes, and when i first thought about doing a leather dash one particular car came to mind... this 550 maranello that has such bad shrinking its tearing the stitching:

http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff52/crazyass713/Lamm%20550%20Maranello/interoirdriversdooroepn.jpg

and the fading, esp on the red (seat):

http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff52/crazyass713/Lamm%20550%20Maranello/dashfrompassengersseat.jpg

even on this brand new f430 that came in theres some stretching/wrinkles... it looks good from afar in the first pic but look at the corner of the glove box in the second pic...

http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff52/crazyass713/F430/interoirdriverdooropen.jpg

http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff52/crazyass713/F430/carbonfiberairvents.jpg

i can only imagine how the tan, black and the dark blue (pretty much all leather fades!) on these cars will fare with fading...

http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff52/crazyass713/P1030547.jpg

http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff52/crazyass713/0425080803.jpg

i can deal with the maintenance that leather requires and the fogging of the inside of the glass from the decay and even the price to do it... its the durability that bothers me most...

haha we're you with mokel?

I was following MK5 John. We dropped his car off...met up with Mokel, and then went up to Sleepers.

Then, one exit away on the Merit PKWY, there is an accident about 15 cars ahead of us and they shut down the highway! We sat there forever...just chilling on the road. [down] [down]
Didnt get home till the wee hours of the AM.

Definately my favorite A4, love everything about it. I told myself my next car has to be a casa. Any more pics or updates on the car?
