Car has no power (stalls @ full throttle first gear)
11in/hg vacuum, no boost at all
Turbo moaning noise

PCV hose from crankcase breather to pancake valve? has a hole in it.

Went to work (down dirt road), parked car. Went to start car 6 hours later and this happened.

Dirt road pebble got sucked into turbo

GPopShop port and polish and rebuild.

I'll update as I tear it apart

Took off the TIP and the intake fins seem fine...

Took codes, got a system too rich condition. I have a 3-5bar afpr, set as low as it can go (~3bar) on a PC-16 setup.

I understand that some setups like mine run at ~2.7 bar but why am I experiencing such horrible conditions and why has it just randomly occurred?

EDIT: MAF is brand new dealer, like 700 miles on it... I have an old one lying around that I might try throwing in.

Threw the MAF with 119k on it in the car, and besides a little rough idle (adjusting I guess) its running fine again.

I'll try cleaning the new MAF or something, is there any kind of compensation I can get from AoA? This $200 MAF has less than 1,000 miles and it failed... WTF?!

I bet you have a boost leak... Nothing else will cause the above symptoms...

I'm gonna take a look. It's running fine now, but only hitting 5-6psi. This is weird [confused].

I'm gonna try to do some kind of pressure testing/hose searching

Hoses/intercooler pipes look all good. I don't have a pressure tester but they're as good now as they were at 20psi yesterday...

you really should pressure test it. just go make one and use a bike pump if you dont have a compressor

Hardware shops are closed and Home Depot doesn't sell 2.5" PVC... wtf.

Sprayed some starter fluid on the IC piping and the idle didn't jump that much though, so I don't know why I'm losing like 15psi...

Tightening random connections now, question though. Theres some oil in my TIP, enough that I can wipe my finger around the connection to the turbo inlet and cover my finger. Is this just from the PCV or something worse... ie seals?

Like I said, the car is running fine (albeit slow and 5psi)...

EDIT: Pulled codes again, signal too low MAF code? Maybe its from when I disconnected it? Gonna clear codes and try everything again...

Where the car stands right now: hoses and stuff all double checked and re-tightened, plugged the line going into the pancake valve, old MAF in and car is running just like it did this morning. So pretty much, I'm where I was before with an older MAF.

Gonna clean the new MAF, put it in and see if the problem comes back.

This shit pisses me off...

New MAF cleaned, put back in, problem is still there.

Going to Valenti Audi with the receipt tomorrow, anybody have experience with an issue like this?

oil in tip is normal, fix the pcv leak and pressure test that bish, you may have a leak from all those couplers from the fmic

Sounds like you have a boost leak. You need to pressure test. I can't stress enough how much your wasting your time looking for a boost leak without a pressure tester. I've been there done that you will regret all your wasted time if you don't get a pressure tester.

Also a 3 bar fpr is way to much fuel for that setup. It needs to be between 2.6-2.8 bar. I used to have a non-adjustable 3 bar fpr and my car was pig rich.

You got ripped off on the MAF. A rebuilt MAF at the dealer is under a $100. It's the same part number as a new part with a x at the end.

what is your vacuum at idle no load? should be around 20ish in my experience. if you have less you have a leak.

To recap, the problem was a faulty MAF (a MAF which was purchased new from the dealer 700 miles ago).

I do however also have a boost leak, which will be fixed when I build a pressure tester (tomorrow?)

Went to the dealership and they told me they can replace the MAF, but can't give me my money back.

So I'm getting another new MAF...

It'll be up for sale, $125 shipped. If it doesn't sell I'll keep it as a spare.

Redid my IC pipes today to sit behind the bumper so I can throw some mesh on the bottom part of the bumper. Also relocated the diverter valve to the cold side, since I got rid of the black hose from the compressor outlet. The nipple that we put on is only held on with JB-KWIK right now since I have to drive the car tomorrow, but will be TIG welded sometime within the next few days. Didn't beat on it, but seems like the boost leaks are pretty much gone. I think I'll wait till the nipple is welded before pressure testing it.

Do you think it would have to be TIG welded, or would some JB weld work?

Stock air box, swiss cheesed with a Purolator (which was pretty clean when I took it out).

The JB-KWIK hardened pretty good. Had 10 minutes with a compressor and tennis ball, found one leak today but I'm still only hitting like 16...

Alright, the JB-KWIK held really good so it's on for possible longer term. I pressure tested using a tennis ball and found one minor leak (in the TIP-end of the PCV hose that melted and I plugged). Fixed that up by adding some teflon tape to the giant bolt I was using to plug the hole temporarily.

I was only able to get it up to like 6psi with the compressor, the air was just all blowing back out the tennis ball. I'd like to make a sealed tester with some PCV pipes but the home depot near me doesn't sell half inch piping... I'll check the local hardware store I guess. It held ~6psi well though.

Now another thing I was thinking about was if the relocation of the DV affecting the boost gauge readings. Pre-relocation I was hitting 5psi at small small throttle going up a hill, now its more like 2-3. I was also spiking like 22psi, now I hit maybe 18...
