Painting satin black or flat black?

I'm going to experiment and paint the interior trim (boring perforated silver). I'm having trouble figuring out what exactly is needed to achieve my goal. I want the trim to be a silky smooth black, similar to that on the black MacBooks for those of you who are familiar with them. Overall, a really quality smooth black.

First, I'm reading all these conflicting posts on the difference between flat blacks. As I read it:

Flat black = Exactly that, flat no shine. Favorite among hot rodders.

Satin black = In between glossy and flat, used by some on their cars (i.e. Rob Dyrdek's new Tahoe)

What paints should I pick up to do this? I want to get under way so I can post up some pictures when it's done![up]

go satin. all the great examples of super cars with this style are usually satin. get the stuff the hot rod guys use, has a specific build of the paint for even coats. sorry, can't remember the name. hot rod flatz? not sure.

I'm still new, and I didn't see a paint & body forum (and I didn't want to post in tech talk ). I checked out that hot rod flatz, but like the name implies I think it's more of a true flat black. A local paint shop told me one way is to use a Satin clear, then a flattening agent.
