It is like a gamble, assuming you have sport struts. People can just replace springs and run it like that for years with no problems. While another can have his sport struts sh*t the bed on him in a couple of months.

Sport Struts = red
those should be ok for aftermarket springs

you will be fine with sport shocks, if they are red like stated above, i bought some used s4 shocks/struts with 50k on them with h&r race [up]

I have a pair of used Koni adjustable front shocks. I swapped them out for a set of bilstein shocks as I prefer the stiffer compression/rebound qualities of the bilsteins. Any and all can confirm that these are top of the line shocks. I can give them to you pretty cheap too. I am just trying to recoup some of the money I paid for the bilsteins, thankfully they too were used so I was able to get them for a good price (mechanic ran them on his S4 for 10k miles, thought they had extra bounce in them cause S4 too heavy)

Im running on just lowering springs on the stock "sport" struts. From the looks of it, you have the Sport package (wheels give it off).

Sport spring will be better than race springs. Otherwise the piston is out of it's nominal happy place and longevity will be compromised. With race springs it would also be very underdamped to the point that handling will suffer and safety might become an issue.

His signature says he has H&R race which means it is underdamped and too low for optimum handling. Probably looks great though. Race springs on our cars usually have more roll than sport springs.

[up] You nailed it. I am running S4 struts w/h&r race springs. Looks really good, but damper sucks. Very unsafe at high speeds.

Don't get race springs. If I could go back I would have gotten coilovers.

Sports: Nice ride, plus, your undercarriage will thank you.
