View Full Version : Door Panel cloth help

So summer is starting and i have started my summer projects. Im Redoing my interior and i wana do suede. But how do you go about doing the doors i see the piece that comes out but it has plastic rivets.

You can melt those pieces and pull it off and then later plastic weld it back on.

so i melt each one? with just a lighter or what?

Not with a lighter. You can use a soldering iron and melt it.

I just did this mod, and it turned out REALLLLYY good. I didn't even pop the inserts out. I took it apart as much as you did in your pictures, then I cut a template out from the suede and layed it over the existing cloth. After that I sprayed the existing cloth with spray on adhesive and stuck the suede template to it. After that I tucked the edges in with a flat head screw driver, it tucks in very nicely without even removing the panel.

I did that and about a month later it started to sag.

yea im just gonna melt the tabs and take it off seems more efficient

Aright i just melted the plastic rivets. It wasnt a good idea to take out the soldering iron when its 98 degrees out.
