Which ever direction they go I don't really care. If a supercharged V6 can outperform the sweet V8 so be it! But it would be a shame to go to an inferior performing motor.

I would like Audi to have a clear differentiation between the models, i.e. A4 with 2.0T/3.2, S4 with supercharged V6, and the RS4 with the V8 (or a supercharged version [:)]

The article states that the engine's torque output is at the tranny's torque rating... does that mean the car can't safely handle any performance mod? I imagine upgrading the DSG will get very expensive.

if we can't mod the car at all... it'd be so much less fun......

There is not much modding that can be done with the current V8 S4 anyway so... I see it as a step in the right direction, although I would have liked to see a return to the twin turbo setup with a V6... but we can all dream. Anyways, the B8 looks to be the best configuration yet for the A4/S4/RS4 chassis in terms of balance. I'll be looking forward to what they come up with for the RS4 if at all. That or the B9 RS4 will be my next sedan unless BMW starts making a decent looking interior.

The current s4 have very little aftermarket support because of the NA v8.

The sc'd v6 can be modded with different size pulleys to bump up the horse power.

The 7 speed they mention of is DSG, and there should be a good market for it, including enthusiasts.

I suppose we will find out when the car actually comes out and tuners start to push the limit.

I've chosen the European Delivery so I'm not exactly sure. It should be sometime around then that the car will be to the states. They said I can tentatively plan on flying over to pick it up in September, then 6-8 weeks after that I will get it state side.

PM me when you get up here and I'll let you know if I have it. I'd be happy to give you a ride! I did choose the automatic tranny for comfort purposes. I know everyone... flame on. If the 7-speed comes out I will get a no-charge upgrade (my intent).
