Im picking up my black b7 in about a week and the first thing im going to be doing is tint. Now in New york i believe its 35% if the limit but, who the eff follows that. Im more worried over look and class over An equipment violation.

Post up your b7 with tint percentages and your opinion........[up]

Limo whatever percent that is haha. I love it but i wish it was darker my last car was Limo over dark. Just remember how dark it looks will be dependent upon your interior color.

5% on my G35 thats getting traded in this week for the blk/blk B7 gonna get 5% on that too...oh and I'm in NY also and I believe I am above tint and front plate laws =)

I'll replace this picture when my Audi finally comes in...they keep pushin the date back ughh

20% is good. 3m's CS 20 is actually 16% light transmission, and combined with the few percentage points from the stock windows, its closer to 14% overall. its dark but not too dark.

p.s. That really sucks you can't have tint on the front windows in VT...

Do cops even care about tint in VT? Seems like such a peaceful place, I don't recall even seeing any police ever when I go to VT to ski.

their actually really a pain in the arse over here when you tint your front windows...a buddy of mine tried it, he pulled out of the place where he got tinted, got pulled over. 150 dollar ticket. Drove a whole 10 min and got pulled over another time for the tint. No ticket cause he already got one....he drove for a whole 30 min with front windows tinted and had to take them off lol.

Yea that's why my windows are down, plus it was warm out and the blue + black leather doesn't help with the heat.

In New York the tint limit is now 70% and plenty of my friends have been ticketed for even 35% now. Good luck.

MN's law is that you have to have 50%+ I have 35% all around and don't get bothered. IF you drive like an A$$ or think you are better then the law you should get stopped!

I'll post a phone pic or two when I get home, but I got a Dolphin Gray w/ 50% on fronts, 25% on backs, and 15% on rear window. I really like going from light to dark as you move back on the car, gives a nice effect and cops can't tell my fronts are tinted (I'm in Cali) even tho they are! [race]

I have 15% all around and honestly, i would prob go for a darker percentage because the 3m tint i have is very easy to see out of at night so and sometimes too easy to see in i dont get bothered by cops either

I have 35% on front and sides, 20% on the rear. Like said earlier, Black on Black the 35% is dark enough for me yet still easy to see out of at night.

Thought I had 5%. But I was pulled over yesterday by a state trooper and received a $75 ticket for having 2% tint. He had his little tint meter with him. It was better than the $186 ticket I should have gotten for going 63 in a 45.

If he didn't clean off your windows first, there could be things like dirt and grime that would affect light transmission making it less that what you actually have. You could argue in court that he didn't clean your windows first, but your tint is still pretty dark and you'd probably loose anyway.

40% Huper Optic all around. I chose 40% because I didn't want it so dark that it would be hard to see at night or attract cops. I also have black interior. Interior color does effect how dark the tint looks. Went with the Huper Optic because it is ceramic. There is no metal in it. This gives it better heat reflective characteristics, does not effect things like radar detectors or radio interference, and doesn't have a cheap metal look to it. The top pic is in the sunlight, bottom is at dusk.

Depends on what the brand offers. Plus every brand is slightly different looking. Pinnacle Formula 1's ceramic tint looks different than Huper Optic's even in the same %

70% is basically the window that comes from the factory. There was a thread about this like a week or two ago and it has a bunch of pictures so search that.

IMO 35% if there is a chance of cops being dicks about tint. It will look darker on a black car w/ black interior as well. Plus you will be able to see at night. You don't need to get harasses for window tint, because that is just the ice breaker for the cops do say whatever they want. BTW... my car 35% all the way, nothing on windshield.
