Has anyone done this or know if the stock harness has the necessary wiring?
Most of the cars I'm looking at do not have the CW package, and those that do don't have Nav/Premium/ or Sport.

Any car can get aftermarket heated seats, but I'm not sure if we have a harness ready if you don't have the seats with the heating element.
So I think your options are either 1) buy oem heated seats and hope you have a harness (bad, costly idea) or 2) pay a shop to install aftermarket heating elements to your oem seats. They wouldn't use the oem harness anyway.

Here's a picture of the harness under my passenger seat -- I do NOT have the CW package (I was doing an under-seat bluetooth install in my car -- we'll see if I ever finish the writeup):

As you can see, there's a gap that would house one more plug. Obviously, I can't say for certain that's where the heated seat harness would plug into. It would be interesting to see the configuration for a car that does have CW -- if anyone cares to indulge us, theres only a plastic cover over these plugs that will pop off...

you're probably going to have to pay an arm for an OEM seat with heat. might as well get recaros with aftermarket heating :D

You can always find what you want in a yard.

Mine did not come with heated seats either, dealer told me they could do it for about $500 if I wanted them. Still debating as I never had them before, if its worth it or not.

I have a b6 without heated seats, and i have a b7 with..
In my b6, there is a gap for the plug, but no wires or metal prongs, while in my b7 there are connections (obviously).. therfore cars without CW are not wired for seat heat

Sorry for OT... Do you recall if the plugs for the B6 are the same? As in, would we be able to just plug in B6 seats?
