Hey guys I'm dealing with an 01 a4 1.8T. No hot air coming through the vents at all. AC works, blows cold air fine. Climate control panel works. Heater core hoses are both hot. I'm thinking its the "blend door".

I searched a few forums and google for blend door but haven't found much helpful information on fixing this issue. Anyone have any links or write-ups to help me? Thanks for any help!

Sounds like the door or a blocked heater core. With the fan on it's lowest setting try changing the temp and listen for the door. If you don't hear anything then it may by the problem. It is inside the heater box which is a couple feet to the right of the gas pedal. To get to it you have to remove the center console, dash lowers, cluster, dash uppers, etc..

I don't think it is a clogged heater core because both lines running to it are hot. By dash uppers do you mean the entire dash? Are there any write-up's on this or more information I can look at somewhere online? Thanks

have the same problem!
to get to it im pretty sure it would be the same dismantle process as replaceing the heater core. i think there is a WU on AW!

The lines running to the heater core will be hot regardless, hot coolant is in there. But if there is a clog in one of the lines, no hot coolant will reach your heater core and thus, no heat. If it's not the door, it's definitely the core itself. I replaced my friends in his 97 2.8 a couple months back... good fun!

The big black plastic box behind the glovebox area is the heater box.

Stripped down to just the aluminum dash subframe.

Another pic with that subframe removed. I think the big door in the middle is for recirculation.
